savings thru the morning

ah, morning, i awake from my slumber wearing a large tshirt with a picture of Jesus on it (free from the american bible society). i glance at the clock on my nite table (free from a neighbor who no longer wanted it, a coat of paint does wonders), on the same table is a blue lamp i got at target at a 75 percent off sale. next to the table is a twenty seven inch color television that my husband won in a contest at work. above that is a victorian print of three children that i bought for  $3, frame and all, at a thrift store.

i pull back my quilt ($12 for a king size at goodwill) and rise from my sheets ($3 for 100% egyptian cotton at goodwill). i step onto a cream and burgandy rug, worth $80 at target, that i got for $15, at goodwill using my frequent shopper card. that is how i got all the large rugs in my home. i have also gotten two wicker hampers, a radio flyer wagon, several bulletin boards, and many many books-including schoolbooks- for free using that same card. i save $10 each time i fill the card. i have saved $200 so far !!!!!!

i put in my contact lenses (sadly full price) using a free sample of renu solution. i brush my teeth with my free colgate toothbrush and my free sample of aquafresh toothpaste.i am low on money so i will use the flouride version while the kids still pay full price for non flouride. i head into the shower where i wash my hair with my free samples of pantene shampoo and conditioner. i spray my hair with a free full size bottle of aussie hair spritz. i lather up with a bar of lavendar soap (a free gift from my friend arlene, who makes soap as both a hobby and a business). i wash my face with my free sample of biore face wash.
when i get out of the shower i apply body lotion (dove free sample) and use my $1 full size bottle of olay on my face (again, target had clearance!). i swipe my lips with lip balm, totally free full size tube that marshall's gave out when they opened a new store.
i pull on my black and pink floral kathie lee gifford skirt ($4 at goodwill) and top it off with a black motherhood tank top ($3 at goodwill). i slip on my capezio black flats, again $3 at goodwill. oh, my hanes underwear was a freebie, too, when they were trying out new styles. i spritz on some j-lo cologne, a freebie from her new site.

i can hear the sounds of a christian choir singing hymns, coming from the living room. my daughter- wearing a dress her friend gave her as a gift- has put on her freebie  from billy graham. her ankleboots were $4 at goodwill. her slip was $1! my son(wearing a tommy hilfiger tshirt and shorts courtesy of our neighbor who out grew them ( and they still look new).  the  rebok shoes on his feet  were $1 at goodwill, even tho they were still tagged from the store) is playing a computer game concerning health that came free in the mail last week. my older son- wearing his 20 cent jertzee tshirt and $5 jeans is already reading his free breakaway magazine, courtesy of focus on the family. my daughter is already reading her free vertical thought magazine, courtesy of the good news. my other daughter- wearing her $50 children's place dress marked down to $5 - has loaded the oregon trail pc game onto her computer (the cd was $2 at a thrift store).my 3 yr old dd is wearing her $1 gorgeous children's place  dress from the goodwill.

i start writing out my grocery list using my free journal and pen i received in the mail last week. i have a coupon that says that if i buy a loaf of bread i can get a half gallon of milk for free. i also have a coupon to get a dollar off a box of cereal that is on sale for buy one get one free. add that to the coupons i have for breath mints, which are a dollar off and they are on sale for a dollar so i will get three packs for free.

the baby is wearing an organic cloth all in one diaper (i won this in an online contest) and a tshirt that my friend missy gave him as a gift (meaning no money from my pocket!).

i make coffee- bought with a $1 off coupon during a buy one get one free  sale- using a coffee maker that my friend arlene gave me when she realized she had three of them and mine was on it's last leg (again no money out of my pocket). i spoon coffee from the decanter i won in another online contest. my mug came from a thrift store for a quarter. i put on my $1 apron too.

i plan our school day using work sheets i get free off of www.schoolexpress.com . and i'll read from the bible using the one i got free at the thrift store (see prior post on that story).

that's just the beginning of my day. maybe i'll post more savings thruout the day later :)

note the book i am reading!

I loved this post.  I just left a recently discovered Christian thrift store where I was able to pick up, among other things, a beautiful church dress for my youngest dd for $2.  It was 50% off day!  I love a good bargain!

After responding to your earlier blog on freebies, and asking for all the advise you can give on how to get started, I spent the afternoon surfing the sites of all the products around my house that I buy on a regular basis that came to my mind. Thanks for the encouragment and ideas...keep them coming !!
