Sometimes, I'm impressed by so little!

My home office over-looks my front yard and the road.  Tuesday morning is garbage day.  The truck for lawn debris just came by and picked up my my bush trimmings which were in a garbage can.  Not only did he take the empty can and put it upside down on the lawn (where it wouldn't fill with water...it's raining and wouldn't blow away or into the street), he picked up the garbage can from the regular garbage, that the previous collector had just tossed on it's side practically in the road.

    What does this tell me?

It tells me he cares; that even if he doesn't like his job (he may, I don't know), he wants to do it well.  This makes me think of the administrative people in my college, whom so often I wanted to say, "I'm sorry you don't like your job, but could you do it please and not make me suffer." (either with your bad attitude or incompetence).

I've actually often thought about what I could do nice for my garbage men...I really appreciate them!

    Laterz...

That's great! Although it's kind of sad that basic competance is something noteworthy these days.

@seraphimarts - *sigh* I know...it really is sad...unfortunately, incompetence seems to be du rigour these days!

Just be sure they wash IT before you "nice" IT.

This reminds me of those commercials were someone saves someone from walking into the street, and someone sees that...so they do something else good later in the day that someone ELSE sees. And so on and so forth.

    You're Sweet!

Write a little letter to the city praising the wonderful garbage service. We have one of those giant compactors that eats your trash when you throw it in. That's a pretty tempting thing for a city with a murder rate as high as Houston.

It's not that your easily impressed, it's that people seldom do their jobs to the best of their ability anymore, so when somebody puts forth the effort to do the job they're getting paid to do, people notice, because that's unusal these days. Maybe leave like a box of chocolates in the bottom of your garbage can, ya know? lol...

I agree with the letter writing but a simple "thank you" in person goes a long way too.

    pWn3d!!!

It reminds me of the saying... " They also serve, who only stand and wait!"

Such a heart warming post. I am with above^^^. Next Tuesday, may be you can step out and thank the guy. He may not be the same guy, but he will remember that you cared about his service, and word of mouth travels fast.

your post also reflects the type of person you are,

to notice someone others would take for granted.

that  in and of itself is to be commended.

    happy thursday mate, enjoy
