| | Okay, so, there was no seminar. I apparently got the date wrong. I have no idea what's going on now...
Writing the essay for Hofstra. It's got to be done by tomorrow, too, because Mr. Wright wants to read our college essays, he said. I like this essay: "Choose a book, film, piece of music or play you have seen recently and discuss the work's influence on you." I chose Thwonk by Joan Bauer. It changed the way I look at life as a teenager, but more importantly it influenced my writing, and even MORE importantly, it spawned the candy heart photography obsession. Yes.
I need to email that Bennington person back... It's now a conversation of 15 emails. We talk about all kinds of stuff: photography, writing, influences on art, heaven and hell, Buddhism, David Byrne, and of course Bennington itself. Fun times.
Ooh! Also! My mom bought me an acrylic painting starting kit thingie-whats. Easel, three boards, palette, two palette knives, four brushes, twelve tubes of paint. I've wanted to learn to paint for...I think at least since sophomore year when I took Art 1. The only painting I did then was my mask, which was exceedingly simple, and my kaleidescope, which was basically paint-by-numbers. I want to actually paint. Mom also bought me this awesome manual about the materials and methods for basically every 2D medium: colored lead, pastels, charcoal, watercolor, oils, acrylics, even gouache. Very cool. I can't wait to start...but right now, I have this essay.
Actually, right NOW, I have to leave for YRUU. Haunted house planning time! Whoo. - |
