Ambrose Bierce's definition of Optimist was funny, but far from "very true."  I do say that anybody who calls themselves a "realist" is just a pessimist that won't admit it.  Because of our human nature we always view the glass as either half empty or half full, but because of our nature, we never view it as "in the middle."

I also very much disagree with your view of an optomist.

Actually, as Christians we should have a very optomistic view of life because we know that all things are in his hands, he is working out all things for good.

and if you are postmillenial you should have an even more optomistic view of life.
