As I said in my last post, I am home again. We have been very busy since I got back. Every friend we have has been by to say hello or to hang out. We've been running around town like mad trying to get wedding stuff finished. And, Brian hasn't let me out of his sight in almost ten days now. This is part of the reason that I haven't posted. The other is that I'm just a lazy bum with not much to say.

First, wedding stuff. We have taken care of almost everything. We went to The Kings Head where our reception is going to be and made our final decisions. I got with our friend Ailbhe who is making the cake and decided once and for all how that was going down. Brian talked to his granny about making a Devil's Food cake for his groom's cake. We took Brian's suit pants in to be hemmed and will pick them up on Friday. We talked with the florist. She had to go to the wholesaler yesterday to see about silk flowers and we're going to go in later today to see what she found. The flowers have been the only real hitch in the plans. Apparently they don't do silk flowers over here. Most times they do real. Brian is badly allergic to pollen so I don't want to have flowers around that are going to make him sneeze up a storm in the middle of the ceremony. Other than that the only other problem has been with my bra. I have to have a strapless one for the dress. I bought one at the same time as the dress, from the same company, but you can see it underneith. So I went to the lingerie store and got a different one. I tried it on this morning with the dress and it doesn't look right. So, I don't know what to do. Should I get yet another strappless bra? Should I say screw it and wear one of the ones that I have? Should I sewstraps onto the dress? It's just annoying as all get out. Besides that all is going well with the wedding so far. Just a few more days and I won't have to think about it anymore. Yay!
Second, what else has been going on. Honestly not much. We've been watching movies, going for walks, seeing friends and hanging out. We haven't gone out anywhere since I got back. Not because of lack of effort from the lads, more because we're usually exhausted by the end of the day. We went to a Christening on this Sunday past. It was for Brian's cousin Maeve. She was so cute! She's two months old with big blue eyes and red hair. I got to meet a whole bunch of the family. That was nice since the wedding won't be the first time I'll be meeting most of them. We had dinner and then went back to Brian's granny and grandad's for more visiting. I was so naughty, I had four different pieces of cake that day. Bye bye diet! Woops!
So, yeah, that's what's been going on with me. Oh yeah, I read The Hound of the Baskervilles too. My first ever Sherlock Holmes. It was good, I liked it.
::Update::We picked up Brian's pants today and they are perfect. We went to talk to the florist again. Yesterday she still hadn't been able to get to the wholesaler, so asked us to come back today. She got some very nice flowers and quoted us a much more reasonable price range then the others that we had checked up on. We should be able to pick them up next week. We went and found another strapless bra. I got it home and it worked much better, so I'm going with that one. I returned the one that didn't work. So, everything is set! Woot!

I say that it depends on how tied you are to the idea of having a strapless dress. If you love the dress the way it is, just buy another strapless bra. They're expensive but you only get one wedding day so to me, it's totally worth it. If you aren't so tied, sew straps onto the dress; things are a lot easier without a strapless bra!
I used to love Sherlock Holmes!
I would definetily go back to the dress shop if you can and exchange the bra. Or take the dress with you to the lingerie store and try bras on under it... I know it sounds a pain but it will be worth it.
Good luck Allie! Thanks for the update! Now you mom is MIA! lol
That was the first time you've read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle???
I should be shot as a bad parent, how could I be so remiss? I don't understand I have every Sherlock Holmes written in two hardcover bound volumes, why didn't you read them?
So we want to hear all about the flowers, by now you know what the florist found. As for the bra I think you should return the one that doesn't work and keep looking. You may need to go back to the mall in Dublin. Yeah, I know you don't want to, but as they so rightly pointed out...this is the only wedding you'll ever have, how much trouble is it worth? You might also check the yellow pages for Lane Bryant type lingerie stores. Sheesh, aren't you glad you only have to do this once?
Tell Brian we said Hi!
Strapless bras are a total pain. Maybe one of the ones that go to the waist. Of course I don't know what's wrong with the fit of yours, but if you need some major holdage the long line ones are excellent. Anyway, good luck. I know it's frustrating.
Sherlock Holmes? Oh yeah...read him a ton in my past life. Very entertaining reading. He used to be my hero. I imagined him, playing his violin, solving great mysteries. ha...Look what your mom wrote. She's so cute!!!! heehee...love her.
Ah, this is all good news. I can't wait to see the flowers.
Love you too Bonnie!
Yay! I'm glad things turned out well!
Well that bra is a load off your mind, for sho! I'm glad you found one that works for you.
Seems like you're getting tons of things done and out of the way.
I'm happy that Brian will have pants to wear to his wedding!!!
@piqued -
Me too! Pants are an important part of the day! :o)
RYC: Thanks!
I have all the Sherlock Holmes stories and I love them! My myspace address is even www.myspace.com/221bbakerst
That's his address, you know.
Congrats on getting married. I've been married almost 9 years, and it's nice to be settled.
You live in Ireland? That must be wonderful. My mother's family comes from there, but I've never been. It looks beautiful in pictures, though.
I was reading your profile, and my favorite Buffy episode ever is also the musical one. *Sigh* When she kissed Spike at the end, I thought I would die right there, it was so great. I miss that show.
Have a great weekend!
