  • Potia De Rossi warns skinny starlets about the horrors of anorexia

Washington, Sept 29(ANI): After learning a lesson from her own experience, actress Potia De Rossi has urged Hollywood's skinny starlets not to become dangerously thin like she did, as the mania may take them nearer their death.

The former Ally McBeal star has written an article in the latest edition of People magazine to coincide with the cover story on the extreme pressure to be thin in Hollywood.

"This is a good opportunity for me to say, 'Do as I say, not as I do,' because I have firsthand experience with being caught up in the whole Hollywood body thing. I would eat 300 calories a day - a lot of Jell-O and no-sugar everything, of course," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying in the article.

"I was doing Pilates, weight-training, circuit training; over lunch I would run on a treadmill in my dressing room with a fan on my face so I wouldn't sweat my makeup off," she added.

In the story, Rossi has also admitted knowing that she was too skinny, but didn't realize how much trouble she was in until she stepped on a scale and saw she weighed a mere 82 pounds (37 kilograms).

And when she visited her family in Australia for a holiday, she shocked everyone with her skeletal frame.

"I went back home to Australia, and my brother and mother said, 'You're doing to die.' It really woke me up; I had to do something, or I would lose everything," said Rossi.

"Now I never ever put restrictions on food. I don't really regret much in life, but I will never get the time back I spent worrying what the scale said," she added.(ANI)
