In My Father's House
Today in the middle of church there was a little bit of commotion in the foyer in the back. The Pastor was preaching and even he lost his train of thought. It seems that there was a man being arrested outside the front door of the church. There were 2 police officers and they were patting a man down. Apparently there had been looking for him and saw him heading into the church.
I guess he thought he would blend in with the small crowd in attendance.
What we didn't realize was that another man had been with him.
This man was hiding in the nursery. Thankfully we had no children under 5 there today so the nursery was empty. I guess that the police knew there had been 2 men so they quietly searched the back of the church and flushed a man out the side door. They followed him down the outside of the building as he tried to get away from him.
There were a few tense moments as the man sitting in the pew nearest to the window told the pastor that the man had a gun. We were all worried about the children because their class was also on that side of the building. Thankfully the police took the gun away from him and also took him off in handcuffs.
We have a very small church and there wasn't anywhere to go. They were right outside of the sanctuary. We could see what was going on. Thankfully the police remained levelheaded and it ended safely and quickly. They could have really hurt someone or worse taken a hostage or something.
I am so thankful that God was watching out for us.
I still say that one of the safest places to be is in God's House doing his will.
Satan was obviously doing his best to disrupt the worship going on.
