| | As promised, a quick blog about Buddy. . .
Last Sunday (almost 2 weeks ago), I woke up feeling head-achy and somewhat nauseated. NO, I wasn't pregnant again, just fighting off some virus or another. I decided that I'd just shake it off and began the Sunday morning routine of figuring out what 5 people would wear to church. At some point, I decided that the ick feeling wasn't going away, and that I really just needed to rest. I asked Papa Bear if he would take the 2 oldest kids to church (please, please), so that I could sleep, while Ju-Ju watched a movie in my bed, and Natty-Baby napped. He actually volunteered to take Ju-Ju as well, since she was already dressed and in no mood to miss out on all of the action. [Note to self: This should remind me that Papa Bear-husband is not always as supremely unhelpful, as he was today.] Anyway, they left. I stayed in the bed longer than I have in years. When Natty woke, I played with her in the bed, then made a little spread of toys for her on the floor, by the bed, and snoozed some more. . .good times. . . Sorry, I was lost in the beautiful memory of having stayed in the bed until almost noon.
So, getting to Buddy. . .After church, Papa Bear took them to his new Italian restaurant for pizza (and to be doated on, by all of his employees)--more helpfulness! When they got home, Buddy wanted me to play Uno with him, and as I dealt the cards, I made conversation. "So did you have fun at Daddy's restaurant? Did you get to meet a lot of the people, that he works with?" He said that he did, and then he thought for a minute and said, ". . .And I just can't stop thinkin' about those girls." The look on his face was so hilarious. His eyes were sheepishly cast off to one side, and his mouth was kind of screwed up to one side, like he was trying not to smile, but couldn't help himself. I resisted the urge to laugh out loud, and said, "Oh really, which girls were those?" He said, "especially the one with the green shirt and the green earrings." What the heck; he's 5 yr old! I made up some excuse to "pause" the game (that's what my video kids call it), so I could run into the bedroom and tell Papa Bear this craziness. He said, "Yeah, that must be Christa; she is pretty cute. When she introduced herself, Buddy said, 'I like your name.'" . . .little Mr. Future-Player. I think this frightens me a little. |
