RANDOM STUFF
When did I become a person who reads consumer reports about mini-vans? That's all I'm saying about that. . . Just wondering.
My brain has been in high gear lately, thinking about homeschool stuff. This is the time of year when I reassess. Just kidding. All year is when I reassess. Not having their test scores for 6 weeks is going to KILL me. I'm ready to say that we're done for the year (and not feel guilty about it), because the reality is. . . We're done for the year. It would help if I had those measureable, tangible test results in my hands, telling me that I had completed the job. It's pretty ironic though, because I have plans to read lots of books to them over the summer. It's bizarre how I want to teach them stuff, but I don't want to HAVE to do it. I rambled about all of this for a long time last night to a very patient Papa Bear.
So as a result we stayed up really late last night. If I'm a recovering night owl, 3am is a pretty decisive fall off the wagon, huh? I wonder if, when our kids are grown and gone, we'll be sitting around at 2am shooting the breeze. Although I hate myself in the morning, I like remembering that I actually enjoy Papa Bear's company. We're good at hanging out together.
We had this conversation this morning:
AMH: I really do like Dr. Garrard. Our old pediatrician was not an easy act to follow. He was with us for a lot of years.
PB: So like, you wanna marry him?
AMH: I think he's taken.
PB: But you WISH you could marry him.
AMH: Well, I'm kind of taken too.
PB: I don't even remember what he looks like, except that you tell me that he's cute and young.
AMH: Yeah. . . he's too short for me.
PB (walking out the door to work)-- O.K. I'll call you this afternoon.

**Added: The kids are in bed now. It's the first time they've been in before 9pm in a while. It's hard when it stays light so darn long.
Since I mentioned liking my pediatrician, I thought I should add that he made a big deal about how well Natalie's language development is coming along at her 15 mo well-check this afternoon. He told me once a long time ago that Julia was one of his favorite patients. He even calls her "Ju-Ju." Of course no one likes teachers or doctors to play favorites. . .unless it's your kid they like. :) |
