THE LETTER GAME
Tincanman has assigned me the letter "C."
"Write five words beginning with that letter on your site, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along." ~ theLioness
Candid-- Something that I strive to be. Honesty is terribly undervalued in our culture. My kids already know that you get in a LOT more trouble if you lie about something, than if you just fess up. Sometimes my truth-telling is a tad scrupulous: I don't like it when Papa Bear tells telemarketers that he's not home. His loophole is, "They asked for John; I'm J.J.". . Now he usually just hangs up on them.
Calling-- I've always loved the idea of God calling us to specific tasks or occupations. A calling doesn't have to be grandiose. The daily toils of motherhood are often exhausting and sometimes downright mundane, but I've never doubted that motherhood is my calling. I plan to do other things with my time and energy in the future, but I don't think that anything else I ever do will be as important as what I'm doing right now.
Caring-- I'll use this as my word for love in action, the "work" of love. I love the verse, "No greater love has any man than this, that He lay down His life for His friend." It's different from the every day definition of love. It's less about how I feel and more about what you need. It doesn't always come easily. It is sacrificial in nature and was very costly for Christ.
Comedy-- Papa Bear and I have to take time to just laugh. If you don't see anything to laugh at, you're not looking hard enough. It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. Take a break and laugh.
Christ-- My reason for all of the above. |
