POLLEN FOG (back to the mundane)

So does the rest of the country need a good rain as much as Athens, GA does?  The pollen is EVERYWHERE.  Maybe I'll get around to taking a picture of our glass-top table out back.  It looks like someone spraypainted it yellow.   I know spring is a fantastic season (blah, blah, blah).  Everything is coming to life (read: we will soon have to mow grass all the time, and all of the areas that the previous owners designated as 'flower beds' will turn into small jungles).  Everyone loves spring (pollen headaches).  I really am happy to see the warm weather (although 90 degrees the other day WAS a bit much for March).  No seriously, I DO love not having to put jackets on all the little ones, and sliding on flip-flops IS easy.   My headaches have lessened; they seemed to peak the week that the Bradford Pear Trees were bursting into bloom.  Today's headache was mild, but I just feel darn foggy.  I think pine pollen makes me tired.  I wake up feeling super-groggy. . .Yes, that's right.  Both foggy AND groggy.

I had snapped myself out of it by dinner time, and we (kids and I) took a short walk after dinner.  We have a new wagon, and I love it.  I'll have to take a picture of Luke in it.  It even has a little seat belt.  The walk was his happiest part of the day.

Speaking of the little monster. . .we had a hard day today.  We're teething again (inconsolable-nap-boycotting- fit-throwing-kind-of-teething).

In other news, the baby shower I hosted yesterday (Sunday) went very well.  I managed to get J.J. and the kids out of the house by 11am, after Sunday school, and got the place straight by 12:45 when people arrived.  I think Heather felt loved.  And the kids had a Chuck E. Cheese adventure with Dad.

I ran to Goodwill today to get more spoons for my mismatched silverware.  I got about 10.  Somehow, we're always out of spoons.  I attribute this phenomenon to the large number of cereal/yogurt/applesauce/oatmeal eaters in the house.  I also got a toy for Luke and 3 skirts for me.  Score.

As for the laundry update, I would rank our situation as approaching crisis mode.  Having seen all of the shower preparations to fruition, today would have been the day to get back on that bucking bronco, but I never got to it. . .just delivering on my promise.

Tomorrow's Learning Grove.  Will try to get to bed early.  Have a good week, everyone!

Wow, it's rare to meet someone else who has headaches as an allergic reaction! And rare to see someone refer to tree allergies! Oh man, how wierd are tree allergies?! I spent awhile at a state park this weekend, while in Kentucky (I'm very glad to not live in Kentucky any more, as my allergies were much worse there!), and went for a walk tonight, but now I'm wondering why, as I've sneezed twice while typing this! Hope you feel better!

I guess many of us who do not suffer through the pollen season don't realize how hard it can be on some people. My youngest daughter also has allergies. It's hard. You just have to keep plodding along, and anything you take to help relieve the symptoms makes you groggy. I'll pray for rain in Georgia!** I discovered when my kids were little and it was their job to clear the table, that often spoons as well as forks were being scraped/dumped directly into the trash! Grrrr. Now my kids are grown, and for the first time (other than the few, early kid free years) I have tableware that matches! I also use real glass glasses now instead of plastic. WOW! **Good luck with the laundry.

We always run out of spoons and socks, don't know how but we do. As for the pollen, it is just starting here, could be why my asthma is kicking in. Great finds too!

When I can't find spoons at the Goodwill...Dollar General usually has them...3 for $1..  Then if I cleaned out from under the kid's beds oftener...maybe I would find my original ones quicker and not have to buy more....I also need to check the sandbox...=o[
