Assorted Things

You can find a 4th of July cousin picture here!  They are all the cousins on Papa Bear's side.  Raise your hand if you can pick out my five.  Hint: I have the oldest and the youngest in the group.  Aren't my kids blessed to have so many cousins to play with?!

This is like true confessions, but you should all know that the "Bachelorette" has been a guilty pleasure of mine this season (O.K. and "Bachelor" last season).  I am fundamentally opposed to the concept of the show, on so many levels, yet I am tremendously entertained by it.  I am currently all aglow, because she picked the shaggy-haired snow boarder dude, over all those perfect, GQ types.   Jesse has been my favorite from the beginning.  There, now the world knows.  I assured Papa Bear that he has nothing to worry about.  Jesse's too short for me. . .that and he's engaged to the Bachelorette now.  And of course, I'm heart-broken for the sweet, single dad, Jason.  I liked him from the beginning too.  They brought him on the torturous "After the Finale" show, where they sit and have an interview in front of hundreds of people, who just saw him get rejected on bended knee (ouch).  It must be in their contract, that they can't say the obvious thing.  I've seen it time and time again.  Chris-what's-his-name-interviewer-guy says, "So what went wrong?" . . .And they look totally stunned and confounded.  No one ever says, "DUDE, she was dating OTHER PEOPLE!  That's what happened!"  Anyway, maybe someone will say it some day, and I won't have to shout at the abc.com, computer screen. :)

My hand is really doing better. . .Still sore, and I still have moments of, "Man, I really need full use of both hands back now!" like today when I was unlocking the gate to the pool, while holding two large pizzas and a 2-liter.  BUT I tentatively swam some laps today, and it didn't hurt.  So that feels like a major victory.

Thanks for any prayers for a sane off-day with Papa Bear.  We even snuck away for a quick dinner here on the East side, while the kids watched a movie.  I'm heading to bed now.  Y'all have a good night.  E :)

You are certainly sounding more rested. I love your sense of humor. (Dude! She was dating other people!)  I admit I have watched those shows on occasion just because it is interesting to see how the individuals react. Part of my job is being able to "read" people, (obviously with the Holy Spirit's incredible help!) and I like to see if I can accurately predict what is going to happen by observing the various personalities.  Yeah......... didn't that sound all professional and stuff?

Yes you are exactly right! If they were dating one on one then any number of those men could be "right" for her. And it is still way too short of a time period for her to know if it is right or not. Better date a little longer or you will be on the "divorcette" show. LOL!
I hope your "tiger scratches" heal soon!

RYC:  Ok...I don't know about your house, but because we work all kinds of crazy hours, we eat out a lot...I mean A LOT!  So, the first step...I cut all of that out.  Cold turkey.  For the first month it went something like this...breakfast...yogurt (not the lite either...just Yoplait yogurt, about 170 calories for the flavors like lemon or lime) and I may add about a half cut of cereal to it.  I prefer Kashi Mountain Medley.  It has cranberries, raisins, almonds, pecans, and granola in it.  I eat a lot of raw foods for snacks.  I keep baby carrots, snap sugar peas, and cut celery on hand.  For lunch, a large salad.  Usually spinach, with grape tomatoes, cucumber, and snap sugar peas.   I use Salad Toppin's and either an Olive Oil Vinegrette or this one buy LiteHouse Ginger something of the other.   Before I eat dinner I eat another huge salad.   Then I use a salad plate to put my dinner on.  Only what fits horizonitally, not vertically on the plate.  Dinner is a normal meal of what the family eats. That's it.  I bought hundred calorie snacks to hit the cravings or I eat another  yogurt.  You can eat all the salad and raw veggies you want.  Another good snack is the Tuna of Sea tuna fillets.  They come in a Tekeyaki or Lemon Pepper.  You can eat that with your salad at lunch.  That is my diet.  I started walking...lots and lots of walking.  Sweat, sweat, sweat.   Oh, also, I don't drink sodas, never really have, but I have started drinking one V8 a day.  I started noticing a difference in about two weeks.  Just more pep in my step.  And be sure to guzzle water.  That's it.  Nothing miraculous.

I watched the show once, years ago, and the person that should have been picked wasn't. I became so emotionally invested that it broke my heart. I can't go through that again. :)

holding 2 pizzas, soda and opening a pool gate is a difficult feat even when both hands are working at full potential....hope it keeps getting better for you.

Here's my sad Bachelorette tale:  I love it too, though I also have not admitted it to ANY of my friends lol.  Some Bachelors I didn't care for and didn't watch, but I really liked Deanna, so I watched this one.  Anyway, watched all season, mostly online, and was eagerly awaiting the finale so I could watch her pick Jason.  A Kirby salesgirl came by in the afternoon while I was working with her sad tale of woe about how she just needed to show me the product to get credit for it (I KNOW, hush), so I said sure, but later.  I meant later like 4:30.  At around 6pm, some other guy knocks on the door and he's the one to give the spiel.  TWO HOURS and 50 MINUTES LATER, I sat down to watch the last 10 minutes of the Bachelor, just in time to see Jesse pull up and propose.  I watched a bit of it online, but had to turn it off after a while because I already knew the ending.  I did see her talking to her sisters after the visit at her house and I see why she picked Jesse - her sister said it - she's only 26 and while she kept spouting all season that she was ready for a family and stability, etc., when it was there in her face, she wasn't really ready.  Which is, ya know, fine - especially since it's her life and not mine.  Hey, that rhymed.  Anyway, I married the crazy guy too, so my rooting for Jason versus Jesse was mostly based on hair (I liked his and didn't like Jesse's).  On that front, it could have been worse, she could have picked the karate guy.
