  • Today is lazy day, and thinking-about-subtitle day.

    Part I- Painting

I woke up early this morning for no reason at all and resumed my painting. I have been working on the details of one of the person there, and it took me hours and hours. Ironic, since it was roughly about 4-5 inches long. That's my painting waterloo: miniscule objects and details. The smaller teh subject, the longer and harder it is to finish it.

Part II- breakfast and cliff hangers

I stopped for breakfast and eagerly anticipated to call University of the Philippines Manila to finally know if the course they had for me was worth replacing Ateneo. And to my sadness and slight frustration, the told me to call within the day since their boss just arrived. Then I did the groceries (yep, the youngest of 3, 17-year old son, do the grocery for the whole family. Just for the summer though, an opporuntistic endeavor my mom did since I was soon entering the busy busy college life. Her way of steering my remaining bumming days to her advantage), then I called again after that, and to my utter depression (slight exaggeration), they told me to call this Friday for they are still "in the process". Tha'ts quite a lot of extension of the deadline they gave me on the acceptance letter, April 7.

    Part III- Movie binging

So, perhaps subconciously or whatever, I spent the rest my day bumming around, watching movies. First was Penelope (Christina Ricci), which sadly lost grip of its entertainment factor by the end. I do appreciate them taking Christina Ricci for the role, and am surprised that they picked her, her being more suited to a dark character, and the role of Penelope being more---blondish. It was really queer, and it's as if there were two directors who did its two half. Its a total complementary juxtaposition, entertaining and messed up. The second movie I watched was Ocean's eleven. That perhaps, by far (or perhaps because it is the only smart movie my mind can conjure now), is the smartest movie I saw. Thank God for subtitles though, if it wasnt for them, I would probably be lost on the intricacy of it all. I am a subtitle person. A lot of the movies I like has that certain style of low volume dialogue, which perhaps is an attempt to set the mood or lure the audience to sudden increase of volume to assist the thrill and suspense impact. I do not get it though. Aren't they jeopardizing the movie by choosing effects over dialogue? Hmm.... My brother hates me for turning the subtitle on, he thinks its a "distraction", though from time to time succumbs due to the reason he cant understand the plot anymore. The last film was "The last king of Scotland". I heard it's a great movie, you tell me. I only watched 30 minutes of it. I got bored and thought it was too serious for the day's parade of comedic movie.

Part IV- Aftermath of headache and Xanga time

    Self-explanatory.

nice day you've got there! hehe... May God bless your "depressing" wait for UP's you-know-what. :)

Ah! Paintings! You're lucky, I can do every type of art besides painting. :) You have to show it when it's done!

I have yet to see those three movies, though I hardly ever watch movies. I just never get around to it. I think the last movie I watched in the theaters was Saw IV, which I watched on the day it came out. Hah. I love having subtitles on as well, it's a shame they cover the speech up with sound.

    Take care.

@gheyb - Ah... I just hope that it comes out alright!

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@WiseOrFool - hehe ill post it soon as I finish. :)

You dont like movies? I love movies! well some of them at least. There are just so many grains of truth, and treasures of knowledge that can be found in movies. Plus, along with great cinematography and accompanying music, movies are a great form of art, and I love art!

Yeah, my mom's like that too. Using college to her advantage, saying that I should practice blabla. Sheeshh.. Friday? It's soo late! I can't wait! Haha. Mas excited pa ata ako kesa sau eh. hehe.

I've seen Ocean's eleven and I loved it too. Smartly done. You really have to analyze and connect the scenes to get the movie. As to the other movies you mentioned, I haven't seen or heard them yet, lol. I'm not totally dependent on subtitles but like what you said, there are movies wherein the dialogues are so low it was like they were more into whispering than talking that's why subtitles come to the rescue, lol

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@dessa_pinkangel - well wala naman ako problema sa mata ko with small details. problema ko yung mga brushes ko! hehe bulok kasi mura. so like when I paint something so small, like yung eye nung 4 inch figure, may eepal na one strand of brush to totally ruin everything! grrr.... hehe ayun. wala pa kai akong makitang brush na for small details man, and i am sure na meron dun sa mga high end brushes. yung mga tipong 1000+ per set. yuk ang mahal.... haha

  • dessa_pinkangel
