  • Ten things... you know the drill

    1. Each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about themselves.
    2. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.
    3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.
    4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

So anyway, I think three people already tagged me (Des, Dessa and Gabe) so what the hell, its a good idea. Please excuse me though if I tend to get so out of the topic, or if I babble too much or something, since the very concept of my existence is the most preferred. :D

    1. Lets start with my most kept secret. Its really embarassing for me, and I'm sure it has pretty much the geeky nature or something. I cant ride a friggin' bike. It was so embarassing when Ive decided that ill try to learn it, and invited my dad to the park so he can teach me. I kept falling off, and lots of people were looking. To add to the insult though, some of them actually offered advice. I felt so retarded. I kinda want to try it again though, if ever I could. but I couldnt handle the very act of falling down the conrete garage (yes, only in the privacy of our driveway will I practice, if ever, free from the scrutiny). But it doesnt matter that much now though. Heck, I get a laugh out of it from time to time. :D

    2. I hate conformity. In everything I do, I dont want it to be the same as what others do, or what is "commonly done". I have no idea why really, if ever its like some past trauma, or just I was programmed for this disgust for the common flow of society or something. I like to dress nice, given that I dont look like everyone else, and that I am not categorized into the narrow stereotypes.

    3. Im the most wasteful in our family. My mom told my brother once that even if I was a joy being with when going out, I was still the most wallet burning of the three of us siblings. Its not a matter of shopping or preference for famous brands or anything really, but the criterias I consider in buying or dining. In shopping: nice environment, element of artistry in the products, freedom from the feeling of "morning family shopping chore," entailed by loud cries from the babies. In dining: good food, nice environment and ambience. When I go to a place thats so family-ish (perfect example is the feeling of shopping in groceries or cheap department stores in the afternoon), I tend to get depressed, no over-exaggeration intended. I guess im just not  that adaptive. Thats why i would like to sorround myself with class, which is possibly another trauma of mine. Though its not always like this, if given the choice, my preference/decisions would always be a bit heavier for the wallet, as compared to my borther's decisions. I blame my zodiac sign for it.

    4. People say im smart, but I feel stupid most of the time. There are so many things I dont understand, and when Im given an idea or instructions or something, I tend to misinterpret or miss out little details that are essential. The outcome thus is fiasco or it being akward. I think the fact that I know more than others because I study, not really because of me being naturally smart, or meticulously perceptive or definitely not me being a fast learner.

    5. I still sleep with my lamp on. My biggest fear, conciously, is perhaps fear of ghosts. I tend to over stimulate my wariness after ghost stories or movies, and even some memories tend to last as long as a couple or years or so. I still have this fear, brought forth from a TV documentary I saw when I was 6 or 7 or 8, that some ghost will grab my feet as I sleep, or flick it, and that is why I sleep with blankets on, or my underfeet not exposed. I am still waiting for the onset of maturity and adulthood to clear this big fear of mine. :(

    6. I get mean when Im bored or stressed, so watch out. I can be totally judgemental or insensitive if Im in a bad mood, but if I was not, Im nice... I guess. Haha.

    7. I am artistic, yet I always tend to freak people out with it. They said my art is too dark or something. I still think sadness and melancholy is a beautiful concept for art. I actually used to enter poster making contest held in High School. I never win. I did manage to win 3rd place once, since the judge was an art teacher, and told them to include my entry since it was interesting and abstract. The other contests they say that my paintings were not very postery. I guess theyre right. I did paint Mary once with her womb open and Jesus inside, while an angel pouring water over it. Its my fault I guess, I got lost in the context of it all.

    8. I love music, but Im very picky when it comes to picking those I like. It has to be either organic or mellow, and definitely has to be artsitic and unique. Organic in a sense that its free of electric accompaniments. Mellow, like that of Norah Jones or Jack Johnson, I hate loud music. Im not into pop, rnb, rap, and the common genres, but I love Jazz and Blues and those types that are uncategorizable. My friends think Im a freak for it.

    9. Its hard for me to be satisfied. Period. I always look for greener pastures, and little alterations in the pursuit for perfection. Its not a god thing really, since this entails unhappiness in the end.

    10. I hate afternoons. They show details I dont want to see, like dust, and blemishes or sweat. But basically because it brings forth heat. I love te rain. I dont get it why people hate the rain. I love gloomy days, and dark clouds, where its windy, and you become friends with a cup of cocoa.

    anong zodiac sign mo? hmmmm...

i love rainy days too! malamig kasi. if people wouldn't mind talaga, gusto ko maglakad sa malakas na ulan habang papauwi galing school. as in literal na basa na ko. ang sarap kasi ng pakiramdam ng ulan. =)

  • Truncated

were totally opposite in 3 and 5!!!  i really can't sleep with the lights on.promise.

i love rainy days when I'm in province, but here in manila? wag na. during my childhood days, we always hope that it would always rain so that we can play under the rain.haha

its fun riding a bike, pero matagal na akong hndi nakakapagr-de nu. last ata eh nung 1st yr highskul pa lng. the most memorable thing with a bike was: it was an embarrassing moment for me: dumausdos ako sa halamanan ng aming kapitbahay namin sa probinsya at nagkataon maraming mga teenagers nun at that time. waah.but ti was fun riding a bike at all.

@pReTTy_rAeCheLLe - haha ayun naman ayaw ko. i likde rainy days when im sheltered, siguro nga dahil na rin sa bad experience pag nag cocommute. haha ive never got wet in the rain before, i mean totally, except when i bathe in it once or twice when I was a kid. I feel its a liberating feeling though. :)

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@Truncated - haha, tumawa sila? oki lang yun. naalala ko tuloy dati nung sumakay ako sa trike with my mom and brother. my mom and bro seated at the passenger seat, pero ako, i seated on that container ng barya( not the one near the window), right next to the driver, and to the left side of the passenger seat. nung pababa na kami, pinagtawanan ako nung mga bata na nakakita sa kin. bat raw ako umuupo dun. ewan ko ba, why i still remember it. haha, pero i think ngayon normal na umupo dun. madami kong nakikita na.

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

    @pReTTy_rAeCheLLe - btw, capricorn. :D

they say we have expensivce taste, in other words, magastos.

OH MY GOD. AS IN, OMG. Lol. We're the same in nos. 6, 9...5 and UGH... 1. I was so shock when you wrote the bike thing as your no.1 because I totally forgot writing about the bike thing. Yes, I'm old but I can't ride a freakin' bike and I can't sleep with the lights off unless I have someone with me and yes it's because of those freakin' horror movies. Gaahhhhh.. haha! My friends and my cousins even tease me about the bike thing until now, every single time they see a bike, in TV or in real life, they kept on giving me those knowing looks. Once,we went to a park where there are rides, they all rode the bikes while I rode a mini tricycle, ugh! It was soo embarrassing so I took a bike, I wasn't even done with half a lapse and they already did more than 15 or something. Sooo embarrassiiiing! Gah.

I too have a tendency to edit edit until I reach the most satisfying look of something, even though it's still not satisfying. I guess I just want it to be perfect or look almost perfect even though that's not possible. I guess it has something to do with ego too. I mean, when you show off something you do or the like and it looks really good then hey, points for the egooo, lol

Haha. We wouldn't get along with music then. I don't like jazz. I love loud music but definitely not metallic wherein I'm more concerned for their vocal chords rather than their song, lol.

I love rainy and windy days, they seem to comfort me. But if I'm not at home and I don't have a car at my disposal, I guess the rain isn't that welcome anymore. rain + hot drink + hoodie + laptop or pc = heaven.

  • WiseOrFool

"People say im smart, but I feel stupid most of the time." That's me too. I'll be called wise, or smart, but I still feel stupid. I feel like I understand a lot, but it doesn't make me feel any better.

Those were some beautiful, deep, and amazing things you shared, very much unlike what most people would have posted.

I like Jazz as well, do you like 'Bebop?' I think that is a type of Jazz, though I'm not sure. It's really comforting. I also hate conformity, I try to stay away from popular things, kind of a subconscious thing. I love rainy days as well, it's like a blanket for a gloomy heart.

  • pReTTy_rAeCheLLe

@Ardenlabroasuncion - capricorn. hmmm.. capricorn are harworking people. binibigyan din nila ng importance yung being responsible. tas galante rin. tas yung ginagastos nila, kelangan worth it. yung tipong, "this monew way from hard work so i mustspend it wisely" parang ganun.. =)

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@dessa_pinkangel - rain + hot drink + hoodie + laptop or pc = heaven.. same equation here. though i can do without the pc thing, since i tend to get away from technology when it rains. :D

but you know, about the bike thing, i think its okay for girls not learning it, but boys who doesnt know how to ride it tend to be more scrutinized. even my mom thinks that its my obligation to learn, and thinks it will save my life one day by running away from bad people. haha

yep, i guess jazz and rock are two opposites. its hard to meet someone with the same preference as mine, but im used to it, though sometimes i feel like a freak for it!

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@WiseOrFool - Bebop? havent heard of it, sorry. i like the very mellow, slow jazz types like diana krall or norah jones, and styles like jack johnson. i do like tori amos too though, though she's not jazz. weird styles are appealing to me. have you heard the new juno album? its so weird and... artistically great

    blanket for a gloomy heart.
that's the perfect phrase im looking for to describe what rainy days is for me. whew, good one.

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@pReTTy_rAeCheLLe - yep, galante nga raw kami. madami ka alam sa zodiac signs?

  • WiseOrFool

@Ardenlabroasuncion - "Bebop or bop is a form of jazz characterized by fast tempos and improvisation based on harmonic structure rather than melody." - Wiki

Heard some of it in a anime, I believe, I didn't know it was  a type of music until I was browsing Jazz online radio stations. :)

    Glad you liked the line!

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@WiseOrFool - hmm.. havent heard of that type yet, or did i just not understand the defintion? haha

  • pReTTy_rAeCheLLe

@Ardenlabroasuncion - konti lang naman. hehe. yung mga shallow parts lang. =)

    2. Maye it’s because everyone else wears ugly clothes. ;) I don’t know about the Philippines, but America has pretty ugly fashion trends. I don’t dress like everyone else, either… The things I like are the things that appeal to me artistically.

    3. I am, too. You wouldn’t happen to be the second child, would you? Then again, I don’t really think of spending money as wasting… I like to think of it as “appreciation of the fine things in life.”

    4.  I can totally relate to this. My middle name is Distracted . I learn by seeing, and by doing… Audio instructions have never had much effect on me.

    5. I thought I was the only one! For me, though, it’s not so much fear of ghosts as fear of darkness in general… I’m afraid because I don’t know what’s in the dark, or what could grab me if I step into it. So, I always climb into bed with my eyes shut after making a mad dash for it after I turn off the light. And I always have to go up the stairs with the light on.

    8.  It doesn’t really matter  to me what kind of music it is… as long as it’s not Hip-Hop or Rap (I don’t even consider them music).  It has to have a unique sound, and beautiful lyrics, and the lyrics have to mean something. Do you have a favorite song? Mine is “Soul Meets Body” By Death Cab for Cutie.

  • Ardenlabroasuncion

@Maddest_Hatter - haha yeah, i can definitely tell youre artistic.

second child? nope. im the third, and the youngest.

    4. maybe this has got something to do with being right brain dominant, dont u think? :D

    5. so its true, not all adults are comfy with the lights off. im not a toltal freak!

my fave song i think is "dont know why" by norah jones, "blower's daughter" by damien rice, and "back to you" by john mayer. sometimes i feel nauseated for listening to it for almost 3-4 years already, but i never fail to see (or listen) how beautifully crafted they are.
