Free at last! Free at last!
Well, I finally took a stand and had the Cable shut off! Hurray for meeeeeeeeee! I don't know if you remember that I got cable tv when my daughter came to stay with me after her foot surgery. I had to sign up for two years, knowing that I could cancel after one year with half the fine. Well, when I moved they upped the contract to a new two-year contract. I did not know this until I went to cancel and then they told me that it would now cost me nearly $250.00 to end the contract. Well on Friday...it was GONE! I was so happy, I did not realize how much I resented TV until again it was gone from my life. I went with out TV for so long and loved it. I don't think I will invite the little black box back into my home again! lol I was excited to return to the library and grab a couple of DVD's to watch through the week. Let me see this was my selection: Ned Kelly, The March of the Penguins, The Secret, and 28 Days later! I know quite the a diverse selection.
Signing off for now...a very happy pile of Ashes

I've been thinking about getting rid of the satellite tv here myself. I get tired of having to deal with it. I don't turn it on often... and when I do, it's just a nuisance mostly.
YAY you!
reaaly don't use cable that much, but have it bundled with the internet service, so it will probably hang around at least a little longer. sometimes when the kids or donkey's family visit, it is nice to have something for those who do not care to play games to do. thankfully, the "off" button on our remote works very well...
Good for you. I know the feeling of getting out from under some bullshit contract that's been snuck in fine print where you have to wait a year.
yes...tv is botheirng me so much lately...tune out...
excellent congrats
YESS! Choice is wonderfull. SOme have mastered the tivo. WE have one = gotit at a charity ;auction for great price ($50) but still haven't figured it out.
BTW when sprint tried to do a similar crazy thing to us....fcc changed their mind quickly. Reporting to the FCC helped a lot. They immediately dropped their claim....which in some convoluted way one COULD imagine....if you are completely criminal, of course.
Good luck. Don't pay the extra....! fight - they cannot cut your cable!
no loss really. the web is where the real content is...
Congratulations to you! This weekend, I was aggravated by the noise of the TV. I like TV at night just to have background noise. I would try to get rid of it but my husband uses it to help him unwind after 10 hour work days.
Good for you!
If I could convince my wife to agree, we would have no TV!
I didn't have a TV for 7 wonderful years after college.
Some people need to be entertained...
Others to entertain.
I am the latter.
( I must confess... I watch it... because it is there...)
