| | Note to James, I haven't seen anything you said about Memorial Day. Where is it? Or do I not want to know?
I despise spray cans! At Lowe's the only varnish I could find in a small enough container, and for outside use, was in a spray can. Almost $8 at that. I just got in from fighting the darned thing, growling because I know I don't have the receipt at hand. Oh wait, yes I do as I had to charge it because I was $3 short.
I took my swingers outside to spray. I have to wait 5 hrs. before second coat and 8 hrs. before use.
These were terribly popular at one time. I have not seen any in years.
This is the second time I re-painted them. This time I hope I did a better sanding job and it lasts longer. I got the bright idea to put a sealer on them. Lowe's did not carry Varathane which is an acrylic, and what I had on hand was too old.
At that time I was forced to buy too much and I don't do crafty stuff that requires it so I didn't want too much this time. Hence I was left with a spray can and then out came the paint thinner to get it off my hands! Well no the thinner came out because after one squirt it wouldn't spray. Some how monkeying around I got it to work but the spray is so wide....
I don't know if I will mess with the other side of them because when I turned the can upside down to clear the nozzle it kept spraying something, don't know if it is clear.
I don't want to lose these as I love them hanging in my tree. Of course now that we had the photina cut down I have to find another tree to hang it in. Preferably back yard as the front tree is a huge live oak with no low branches but one in use. Plus out front people tend to steal things.
I just got froggy this year from hub's sister. She sent him back with hub. She also is the one that gave me the swinger's years ago.
When I looked at froggy's finish I decided he best not be out in our bright hot summer sun, and I question whether rain is good for it.
Sis had him out by her walk on some white stones and he showed up well. Here he blended right into the porch cement so I set him on the windowsill.
No that is not coffee in the can. Pigeon mix is in it. Used to keep it on the porch in a container the sparrows kept knocking over, so I hit on the can idea. |
