Another view of lens and other stuff

This shot was very hard for me to get as we were about a foot from this huge Fresnel lens and were not to move from the rubber mat or touch the lens of course. Add to that we were crowded like sardines in a can along the windows.

Say, that partial squat is how I pulled the muscles in my left leg. Just couldn't figure out yesterday why it had started to hurt. Didn't think I'd done anything climbing the steps.
This movement is so quiet because it is on ball bearings in oil. Or did I say that yesterday?

I'm assuming from the number of comments yesterday that 1. either folks aren't interested in lighthouses, or 2. few folks have been here.

Called hub this morning to let him know the package I mailed yesterday I forgot to insure. I got to talking to the woman about mailing a package in an Amazon box and didn't check to see insurance was among the charges.   I sure hope the cranberry glass ornament bought at the Hughes house yesterday is indeed packed well enough.

So today's box got insured as it has two new books in it. One on the Victorian houses in this area and one Dee gave me on the Coquille light. Of course some beach stones and some other little things were tucked in so it couldn't go book rate.

While on the phone with him nature made an urgent call and just think the lady that complains about cell phones in bathrooms, well you get the picture.

My sis always calls in the morning, after I am done with my coffee, and I almost always have to go potty while talking to her.  Since it is long distance, I don't tell her I'll call her back.  She does the same thing.  The flushing gives it away!  lol

That was interesting about them covering the lens with a cloth during the day.  Reminded me of something.  When I was a little girl, I saved our garage from burning down.  Daddy had a gallon jug of water on the floor of the backseat of the car.  An old wool blanket laid next to it.  One day, the car was parked just perfectly in our garage for the sun to shine through the window, into the car, and through the gallon of water----which in turn magnified the sunlight, and set the blanket to smoldering.  I saw the smoke while playing outside, and ran screaming into the house.  Thankfully, the only damage was to the blanket.  No more water jugs left in the car after that.  A lesson I've never forgotten!

So interesting that you are kind enough to take us with you on your trip.

Lighthouse steps are beyond me now,   you'll have to do the climbing for me.

Lighthouses are grand institutions and have saved numerous lives and ships.

I've never been inside a light house, but I think it would be very interesting, not to mention the terrific view from those heights. I'll need to add that to the list of things I need to get around to doing before I die.

Sounds like a lot of fun!  Maybe someday I'll get to see a lighthouse.
