Crimeny. Here I was complaining about mom when my sister called tonight. Mom's in the hospital! They think she is 'trying' to have a heart attack. Sis reminds me with women the symptoms are different. While mom was trying to use her curling iron yesterday she couldn't breathe.

I gave a call to her hospital room. She sounds chipper and pleased about the good looking nurse she has. His name is Scott- same as her grandson.

They will take a look at her tailbone too. When she passed out awhile ago she landed on it. I'm betting it is cracked. What can they do for that?

Today I started at 9:30 in the morning with calls to the gastro doctor's collection department. I didn't get a body, I got a recording. I left account number, my name and phone number.

Returned from the pool at noon to try again. Same recording. By 4 p.m. I had heard nothing. So I dialed the number listed on my old HMO card and went through about 4 menus to listen to what they have paid. They denied the $3,550 as the claim came in late!

Well now that made me a happy camper! I dialed back the phone voice and told her under no circumstance was I going to pay because they made a big mistake and they knew the procedure for re-submitting it.

When hubby came in he dialed the HMO and went back further in the recordings. The gastro people were paid for both the colonscopy and the endoscope. What is this double billing?  Since insurance wouldn't pay full amount try the client?

I was not terribly pleasent when I left the last message so I wasn't surprised to get a rather snotty lady calling me back. I handed the phone to husband.

That charge wasn't for the procedures... hang on now, it was for the FACILITY! Not a hospital, a doctor's office.  7 doctors doing procedures there and if they collect that much they could build a new building and have more parking!

I heard husband say we were never told that and the next thing I knew he walked in the room and said they said "disregard the bill". He should of told her we want confirmation as I bet we get another bill.

Tomorrow I am to pick up the progress notes on my back injection to take to the doctor I see Thursday. Hopefully he will OK the last injection.

While there I will ask if we have to pay how much are we looking at?  Wonder what I could sell on Ebay?

Just today we got a letter from our insurance company questioning Gordon's eligilibility and I had to stay on hold for about 40 minutes to finally get something other than a recording.   First off I told them that since our premiums have gone up so much, seems they could hire a couple more people to answer phones!

She told me that a new system had most all Medicare patients up in arms when the insurance won't pick up after Medicare.    We have several claims that haven't been paid.   She told me she started the procedure to get it all cleared up.   Humpft!  We'll see.

I'm going to bug them till they pay the claims owed.   I will probably develop a medical condition from holding the phone to my ear while on hold for all this.   Wonder if they'll compensate me for it?  lol

Our main reason for keeping the plan is that it really pays well for scripts.    And what do you suppose will happen if Dubya's big drug plan goes through?   We'll probably lose money on it.
