| NYC Bike
Weekend was amazing - weather, Little Italy, the Park - and a huge Room
at Hotel PA. /> | | |
| The school year is ending fast. This weekend is the Bike NYC trip - 42 miles thru all 5 NYC boroughs with Mike Davidson. Then a Texas trip for Austin's graduation and the Phillies/Mets game at Shea. I think I need a summer vacation ! Here are some DC pictures from April -
The next project for school is to look at the "Campaign for Real Beauty"
website that helps us turn down the volume on how we look, what we
wear, and "Is it ok to eat lunch?" - alot of kids are putting preasure
on each other to wear prep cloths, hate our face/hair/body and then not
ever eat lunch - STOP THE INSANITY!
It hurts soooo many kids to comment/criticize people every morning on
what they wear/how they look. If you agree then LEAVE A COMMENT! Thank
you!

| On Wednesday we begin the last trimester of the year (changing
Art/TE or FCS). This year will fly from here til June. What has it been
like for the 6th graders? What about 8th graders heading out soon for
that big school on the other side of Dairy Queen? And of course 7th
graders who remember 6th grade as "yesterday" but are soon to be the
BMOC (or for the girls BWOC!).
What has been good for you? Not so good? Most importantly, IMHO, how well have we all, together, created a place where EVERYONE wants to be,
a safe place where no one gets beat up (verbally or otherwise)? What
can we do better? Post your thoughts here. I cannot respond online -
besides I'd rather talk to you in person that thru this screen! Let's
talk about it! Check back here for a new question every week. C-ya

| March 1, 2006: The first Month of Spring! We Were Merely Freshmen
When I was young I knew everything
she a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken sobbing with my head on the floor
Stopped a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice
For the life of me I can't remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise for the life of me I can't believe
We'd ever die for these sins we were merely freshmen
My best friend took a week's vacation to forget her
His girl took a week's worth of Valium and slept
Now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really
Wept he says: I can't be held responsible
We've tried to wash our hands of all of this
We never talk of our lack in relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip
We'd say I can't be held responsible
Being w/ young people in a school is really a lot of fun. Anywhere else in America would be way too dull compared to the 965 studentsof EMS. It's fun because EMS students are real : real
honest, real open, real serious, real decent. They have real lives and
they care about each other even when they are confused about their own
lives.
QUESTION:How do we help those who are not having any fun, feel left behind or are
making really bad decisions that will hurt their future. If you are one
of those right now: What are you waiting for?? Get to an adult that you
trust and find out how many people care and can make a real difference.
Do not continue to feel miserable . . . or confused . . . or ignored.
We are ALL (including U) equally members of this community. You deserve support and attention.
I cannot respond to posts here but you can always stop in the guidance
office with a friend to talk about whats up. I hope you will.
