| | Is it only Monday?
David is working out of BR. It makes for odd hours. If I go to bed at a decent hour, I wake up when his alarm goes off. (2:15AM.) Lately I have just been staying up. I keep the laundry moving, finish the dishes, make sure the coffee is on when David gets up. Then I go to bed. Last night I think I had way too much coffee during the day besides the odd sleeping pattern.
Or maybe it is just my ovaries doing their thang. I have been *really* weepy.
I couldn't shake the blues today.
I got an appointment for Gracie to be spayed on Wednesday. My regular vet is booked solid until April. April! So she will be going to a different vet who will be charging me more than my regular vet does for spays. But what can you do? The highest rate I got quoted was $190 for just the spay, plus they require FeLV testing and vaccinations ($85.) Dr. P. (he was the vet who took care of R.J.) is an old-time, cattleman's vet. He charges $90, plus vaccinations (another $30.) Clyde will get his testicles removed in April, when my regular vet can do it.
David also has a job interview on Wednesday. A job that would put him closer to home, provides a company car, equitable salary. I just want God to put him where he needs to be. I have no real strong feelings about this one way or another. God will move him in His time. I've stopped worrying about it. So if you are the praying sort...just pray for God's yes to be yes and His no to be no. His will be done.
My tomato seedlings are up. That was a happy thing. David created a little green house for me out of a rubbermaid box. We screwed the grow-light into the box lid, plus the whole thing...lid and all... is semi-transparent. The sunlight shines in as well. I put the heating pad underneath. When I saw a bit of mold developing on the peat pots, I hung a tiny fan off the edge of the box and it's just the right amount of ventilation. It is cat proof and self contained. Very cool. All the Brandywine's are up along with the LaRoma's and the Garden Peach, Tomande and Persimmon. Celebrity and Burgess...not yet. The peppers and eggplant are usually a little slower, too.
It is still too wet to plant potatoes. Not that I haven't been out there, poking in the dirt, hoping things would have dried out a bit.
The birds are hitting the feeder really hard, but so far they are leaving the peas alone. Oh! And it is almost time to pick brussel sprouts! I planted them way back before my surgery and they were sorely neglected. Still...there are lots of little sprouts to pick later this week. The cabbages are huge and ready to pick, too. Cabbage loves to grow here. (I sure wish my people liked cabbage more.)
I feel down. I think maybe a glass of wine. A decent night's sleep might help, too. On the upside...this is the first time I have felt PMS-y since my surgery. It used to be a monthly freak fest. So yeah. Improvement. |
