| | I did not sleep at all last night. First...I realized that I had a small error on our tax filing. I had all these paranoid visions of the IRS coming to get their $15. Then, at about 2:30AM I realized that David's car registration was expired. I was supposed to do the online renewal at the same time that I had my surgery. Now why does my brain remember that information at 2:30AM, some five months later? I agonized over fees and penalties. There was the worry over the necessity to change Caitlin's curriculum (she has completed everything and is down to doing just history...then calling it a day. I don't think so!)
Mostly, I think I have been drinking too much coffee. Maybe we need to swith to decaf for the afternoon pot of coffee.
So I danced around with my caffiene-induced, delerious anxiety until about 6:30 AM. Slept for a couple of hours. The phone started ringing at about 8AM and kept on ringing. The cats wanted their canned cat food. The dogs wanted out. No rest for the weary or the woman with the crazy sleep schedule.
Sophie. Sophie is this tiny little white cat. Very shy, very timid. But she loves her can of Fancy Feast in the morning and she is quite vocal about it. This morning when I did not get out of bed in a timely fashion she began knocking things off the dressers. I watched her do it! She sat there, put out her paw and sent whatever was on the dresser flying to the floor. A glass. (It hit the rug thankfully.) The fish food. A little die cast car. A book.
When Clyde started howling, I just got up. Couldn't find my left slipper because Carmen thinks my slippers are her babies.
Grrrr.
I love my cats.
I went to my great aunt's wake this evening. I stayed there longer than I planned and I was so thankful that David was cooking dinner when I got home.
He also surprised me with a (pricey!) bottle of Merlot. We had a glass after dinner. (OMG. This was good stuff!) I think I will sleep tonight.
I hope so.
I called the DMV, about Davd's registration. The penalty is a whopping $3.00. I think we can manage that. I found some high school curriculums and correspondence courses that should fit the bill for Caitlin. I can handle teaching high school math up until Algebra I and II, but trig and calculus have erased themselves from my memory. These courses are nationally accredited and they even offer some classes that work as dual credit...college and high school. Once we get our tax refund, I think we will sign her up for a couple, see how she does. So that makes me feel better. My mom assured me that if the IRS does find the error (and chances are they won't) they will just send me a letter notifying me to that fact. What can they audit? Our one little w-2? Our financial situation is pathetically uncomplicated. I got an email this morning that our return was accepted, so I won't sweat it.
Garden: You should see all the little potato leaves emerging! And the peas! I have a beautiful stand of peas this year. Usually I plant a little too shallow for fear of sudden cold weather and the seeds rotting. But then the birds and mice get the seeds. This year I kept the bird feeders full and buried the peas deep. It took them a long time to germinate (it has been cold and excessively wet) but they look great. The broccoli in the garden is up, but not the broccoli in the peat pots. No sign of the carrots yet, but they usually takes so long that I have a tendency to forget I planted carrots at all. I have double planted by accident...carrots springing up in the midst of broccoli and silliness like that.
ok. I really gotta get to sleep.
