I cleaned the mousies' rubbermaid box last night.  Determined a few things.  One:  The mice can jump pretty darned high.  It was time for a new mouse box.  A mouse loose in this house is a very dead mouse.  Two:  They have grown quite a bit since those photos I posted.  It's kind of incredible how rapidly they have gorwn and how fat and sleek they are.  Three:  They want to make their own nests...so I gave them some toilet paper, shredded.  And an empty toilet paper roll for tunneling.  I'll try to get some photos because it's pretty cute when they are all out, doing mousie things.  I introduced some seeds into their food bowl today...gerbil and hamster diet.  I saw that they carried some milo to their new nests, but no evidence that they actually ate any of it.

We brought the boys for haircuts last night at the mall.  Jonathan took a scissors to his own hair a couple of weeks ago, which was bad.  But then he got gum stuck in another part of his hair a couple of nights ago and his super straight blonde hair looked like some ravenous beastie had gnawed on it.  Something needed to be done.

Piles of blonde locks on the floor later, my boys no longer look like ragamuffins.

We also stopped at the thrift store.  I haven't been Goodwill hunting in a while.  (Sorry, the pun was too easy.)  We found some shirts for Benjamin (needed!  He has grown like a weed this summer.) and a complete set of junior golf clubs, with the bag for $7.99.  My boys love to play golf.  These are real clubs.  With real metal.  That can cause real concussions if one gets in the way of a golf swing.  They have been warned.

This morning there were six different lilies blooming in the big pond.  It was pretty impressive.  I don't know what I didn't get a whole pond shot, to show all of them.  This is one that has never bloomed before....

I have several pots of unlabeled plants....and this is one of them.  No idea about the variety.

Oh well.  Gotta go stir supper.  And I wanted to go risk a heat stroke ...ride my bike  for bit before the sun sets.  The chickens need feeding and the eggs need to be picked up.  The koi are probably wondering where's dinner, too.

My 18 year old and his friends shave each others' heads so they look like Buddist monks.

I actually have a scar on my ear from where I had to have stitches from being hit in the head with a golf club.

I want to know where you will release the mice to cause the least amount of damage? :bouncing:

@BLB - near my pond.  It's so open here...no people...or at least, very few people and houses.  There are large numbers of mice and rats in the pastures ( you see them when they make hay) and mice will come into the henhouse in the winter, but otherwise we've had no mouse problem.  Of course...we have the cats.  The mice just steer clear of this house, I think.  I can remember a few years back my neighbor was complaining about mice in his house, how it was a bad year for mice.  I noticed a lot of them outside, but never inside.  So anyway...they can't cause any harm near the pond.  I feed the birds there, so they can grab some seeds until they get used to foraging on their own.  But I doubt they will remain there.
