"On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed."Thomas Jefferson to Supreme Court Justice William Johnson, June 12, 1823

I had just gotten out of Intro to Islamic History.  I was walking back to my dorm and I walked up to Tara's dorm to get a book.  I knocked on her wall to get her to open the door.  She looked at me with this odd shock in her eyes.  I was confused but asked for my book.

"Haven't you heard?"

No, I hadn't heard.  I walked into her room and watched on live tv as the first tower fell.  Those images will never leave my mind's eye.  I will never forget.

Where were you?
