Got a new cell phone and I got my ears pierced. Had a fabulous time with the family. Daddy got a new car, so while us girls went shopping, he and Stephen washed and waxed the car and generally bonded. The family is coming together better and better.
Academic Decathlon, abbreviated AcDec, is a national high school knowledge competition, a quiz bowl sort of thing. There are three levels of competition on ten different categories. www.usad.org We competed in Art, Econ, Essay, Interview, Literature, Math, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech. I got third place in music at the regional level. It was jazz, and I'm glad I was more formall introduced to Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Miles Davis. In art, I learned about Mondrian, Louise Nevelson, Bearden, and my favorites Max Beckman and Anselm Kiefer. Literature gave us My Antonia, an Ibsen play, and some pre-modernist poetry. I gave a speech about my late grandfather. '99-'00 was my first and last year with AcDec. I was sucked into the program by my English and French teachers. Moving so much, I wish I had moved to San Antonio sooner and had time to really get involved. Our team had a good year socially and a bad year competetively (unless you're talking about how the small number of girls in the group managed to snag the hearts of all the guys). Fun and games, rivalry and ruckus, mania and memories. It was there that I met or cultivated relationships with the boys now dearest to my heart - Max, Jason, Brian, and Stephen.

it sounds like a real bonding time! and AcDec sounds like an intriging program!
Okay. My bag is on there. I feel dirty now, though.
Dirty!
God lays it on my heart and lets me preach a little bit once in a while and I am thankful for it. I need it as much or more than anybody that might read or hear it. Without even needing to say it, any of it that is good is all Him. But I thank you for your encouragement. Don't worry about familiarity. I figure that we are all going to end up together and that we are part of the same family anyway. Drop by any time.

"...dearest to my heart - Max, Jason, Brian, and Stephen." --Is that THE Stephen, or another excellent guy?
