Dear Emily,
Something to do with Jim Morrison?
What do I win?
I liked your last entry concerning the movie "Closer". I loved the title song, and that's about it. I hated the movie. Yeah, beautiful people. Great acting, and for what? A useless exercise in hedonism and lack of love, if you ask me. I agree with your "ramble" wholeheartedly. I asked my last real girlfriend to marry me three times, and after three strikes your're out. She couldn't get it through her head that I really loved her, even though I gave her a great house to live in, and took care of her two kids. She ended the relationship by, of course, cheating on me.
Now when I talk to her on the phone (she lives 3000 miles away but I never burn bridges so we're still friends) she admits she made a grave mistake. But let me tell you, I'd never take her back, because she ruined the relationship, and though I still have love for her, she ruined my devotion to her forever.
Cheating isn't "hip" . It's hopeless.

The lyrics truly made me laugh - I hope that doesn't offend. I liked your previous post on fidelity. I think culture as a whole is reaccessing the marriage thing. You have many people who feel that a committement before God is no longer ness.or at least a committment to a community of witnesses is no longer needed. I'm not sure what to think about the whole thing b/c I think that to publicly confess your marriage contract with either it be a church or civil system brings responsibility and committment to the union. Also, we are so screwed up right now as a whole with sex and body image. Many young men want to get married so they can have unlimited sex with their spouse and neglect the aspect that sex is love to the max with someone you care and deeply feel for. I think the whole institute of marriage in america is messed up right now and the church sadly is not giving its faith community a good reason to adopt the biblical model of marriage, I mean we're just as screwed up as the outside. Well, there's my rant for the day as well!! Peace
