Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Widescreen Edition)

Hot green tea in a cold office, wool sweather wrapped around, socks under these shoes and on these feet.  Close parking space because of lateness, drowsiness, utter desire NOT to be
    here.

It is Wednesday, hump day, middle o' the week.  I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith last night, which was mindless enjoyability.  Brad Pitt is hot, but I confess that I looked more at Ms. Angelina, who's smokin' hot!  People were disturbed by the domestic violence in the movie, and that was shocking and a little upsetting to me as well; but what disturbs me most is the issue that while fist to fist or knee to knee combat is something we rightly are not yet sensitized to, especially between a married man and woman, the gunslinging and car-slamming is somehow okay - or at least less bad.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and defend the second amendment.  Own a gun, fine.  I'm cool with hunting, but I'd prefer you eat your meat and use your skins and not just leave the animal dead.  If you agree that we are the stewards of this earth, we must respect nature.  The Mists of Avalon, that pagan twist on Arthurian legend, talks of ever thanking a greater being for the sacrifices of nature - any food we ingest.  This is what some of us say to God before each meal in the form of grace, and I believe it's important in any form.  It is something in which I should consciously and conscientiously partake more often.  Back to the guns... own a gun, but respect that with rights come responsibilities.  Guns used for hunting and recreation are fine, but automatic and semi-automatic guns are ridiculous (from what I know of them).

Guns make killing so much easier.  All of the consequences and all responsibilities are buffered and more remote.  I'm not a vegetarian, and I probably wouldn't have to be if I went out and shot Elmer and Bessie for my hamburgers, but I think I would be inclined to think twice if I had to go out with a bow and arrow, or a knife, or with my bare hands, and bring that cow to the ground.     Getting into a hand-to-hand fight with a person doesn't sound like a pleasantry.  Gunfights don't sound much more fun, but if I had a gun, I'd be more likely to use it against somebody threatening me or just lookin' kinda funny.

Just be aware of everything you do and how it affects everything else in the universe.  Be mindful of how things interact.  Just open your eyes and your hearts to each other.

    And forgive me for preaching

ryc: sorry! I have a tendency of late to clip posts after a few days- the recalcitrance of the shy? I hope to have internet tomorrow... fingers crossed... then I'll "be back"- no time in what I have left of my "slot" at the library to even read your post, which, hmmmn, ahem, sucks. -:) xo

I could look at Angelina all day long, especially in cashmere and pearls.  Brad, on the other hand, doesn't do all that much for me.

I see no reason to own a gun.  I think it's cool to hunt for your meat with a bow and arrow, though.  I guess that wouldn't work for bird hunting or whatever they call it.  When I was a kid we opened up the back gate into miles of woods.  My dad let us do target practice back there with a bb gun and I was good at it.  The other day there were a flock of crows walking down the street and I wished I had that gun.  I dislike crows and suspect we will one day fear them.

On the 'flash 15 min' computer at the library - your blog doesn't suck at all!!!!!! Not having internet at home does! I have barely enough time to read email, news, posts & post.... lamenting, that's all. Hopefully getting internet installed tomorrow.... oh bleeps.

I actually agree with you on the use of guns. Fine for hunting, but any of the more "hardcore" guns should be left to the guys in the military. On the hunting note, I've been craving deer summer sausage like mad lately. Deer season's coming up soon, maybe I should dig out my bow & arrow ;P
I left a response to your comment on my latest post. I got the jist of it, though part of it confused me. I think it's just me trying to comprehend non school related things with a fried brain :)

ryc: i loved the time i spent w/the teachers, but it was really hard work- teachers have passive/aggressive behaviors down to a science... and this crew didn't want to talk and was a bit resistant, and i found they were hard to reach at times. i did some followup work w/one today in hopes he'd stretch a little and grow into a better teacher, but he doesn't see a need to do that. frustrates me slightly bc i had one short day w/them. but i think i will like the job once i adjust to the travel part of it.and i got to see my beloved adopted child and take him out to dinner on their dime... so all is good on that end and makes the exhaustedness worth it. now--- i just gotta get back into routine life! :)

Everyone should listen to Nine Inch Nails' "Big Man With a Gun"

Brad and Angelina are a good couple of actors.
Anyway, gun ownage (and usage), while great in video games, is just messy in real life. Unfortunately, the burgeoning of illegal street arms leads to a sort of arms race we never want (too messy to elaborate here), so we'll never be rid of "assault weapons". The best we can hope for is a society that can handle things without or with guns, in case the iron comes out.

    Hello,

I guess the lost post was nothing much to complain about.  My neighbor of over a year died today, and as I sat here typing about a lost post she lay in a hospital bed waiting for her life to end. So a lost post is not important.

I have not seen this movie. I have been in a realitoship that was abusive on one side, his. As for guns., I think we have a right to own a gun. I don't feel the gun       laws are up to par however.I dont own a gun, but having one to defend oneself from some lunatic who has broken into your house who you  might possibly find leering down at you while you sleep in this word today would not be bad

I have never found Brad Pitt appealing , I take that back, one movie , ' Interview with the Vampire', other than that his looks are too 'pretty boy' for my taste. I think his appeal to me in that movie was the characters charateristics he played. I find Jolie to be an attractive female.

I agree, open your minds and hearts to each other.

    Thanks for stopping by .

    Peace and Love:)

At last I have internet where I am living. Living without it was way too difficult- the library's internet time way too short. I'm sorry you misunderstood me yesterday. I probably wasn't very clear about my frustration with not having enough time on-line to do much more than skim posts and, if time allowed, leave a superficial comment. Not to my liking at all (I like to read closely, and that takes time).

Gun laws- whew. You take on the big ones don't you. I like how you say, ok, recreational use of guns, but, please, fellas, take your kill, skin it, eat it, use the fur... and don't forget to honour the spirit of the animal you killed either.

I spent a number of years of my childhood in an African jungle and have seen close up what animals do to each other. It's a fierce world, Tennyson's 'red in tooth & claw.' We're really no different. I eat meat now, mostly because I find I have more physical energy if I do, but have had long years as a vegetarian too. But I do say prayers for the animal whose life was taken so I could eat. Being a vegetarian should be a personal preference decision, not a moral one. Hitler, afterall, was a vegetarian. So there's no correlation, not really, between pacifism and meat-eating. Ok, perhaps if vegetarianism is part of a general philosophy or approach to life, but, again, not as a moral position. It doesn't work as a moral position.

Back on guns, as I skip about here, euphoric to be commenting on my own computer at home, where it's once again, intimate, here in Canada it is illegal to own firearms, but you can get a license to hunt. We don't have anywhere near the homocide rate of the States. It's sensible and it works.

(Did you unsub from me too? Someone did since yesterday...)
