Thoroughly impressed and moved by this movie. I admire Ed Norton
even more. There were tough issues in this movie, real issues,
and there was no sappy simple answer in the end. Actually, it is
kind of simple. Let me scour the Internet for the quotation at
the end of the movie...
"Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it."
My brother's birthday.... My dad called around 11:00, then he
picked up my laundry and me. We went to Best Buy to get brother's
gift (certificate), got some spare keys made for my mom's new
boatImeancar, and ate an obscene lunch. Went home, watched
Sopranos while playing pool, did the birthday thing when brother got
home from work. Before Daddy, bro, and I saw AHX, I treated them
to the most recent Harry Potter movie, which still made me cry.
And Dumbledore's lovely simple quotations:
"I'm afraid there are no more easy answers, Harry"
and
"Now is the time that we must choose between what is right, and what is easy."
Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman are cool, Emma Thompson is currently
doing another kid's movie where she gets to dress like a goofball
(where she's a nanny), Ralph Fiennes was an impressively good
Voldemort. Such a sick anglophile I am.
But still a fierce American. I, like many, believe in
balance. Go too far to the left and you're a communist; go too
far to the right and you're a fascist. Despite our frequent
wobbles, I think the people of this country will help correct it, keep
it tipping close to the center.

Did Emma Thompson used to be a Spice Girl? Maybe I've got names mixed up.
Sounds like a fun day... minus the laundry. Shoot. I have a load in the dryer.......
Is Fascist so wrong?? :) How about I just be a righteous Christian? We're in the middle.

Dear Emily,
As you probably know, I don't read blogs every day, there just isn't enough time. I feel as if I haven't visited anybody in so long (two or three days constitutes "long") and then when I do visit, I usually "find my place" pretty easily. You entries are not too long or short. They are "just right". I loved the poem, and Happy belated birthday to your brother. (There is no word as "bestest" though, but it fits the poem.)
I think American History X was the first time I saw Ed Norton in a movie. I thought it was an excellent film. I still haven't seen the new Harry Potter. But ticket prices in theaters are so expensive and I can watch the DVD on my HDTV bigscreen when it comes out. I get a pretty fair "theater" experience at home anyway. (without the ads)
Thanks for the mentione and the link in one of your previous entries. I once wrote that if I could inspire just one person with my writing, then my purpose has been served. And thanks for continuing to leave me comments even when I'm not actively commenting on your own site.
Take care,
