  • This is kinda fun... for me

Ocean and Jassmine, your recipes sound really really good also.  Bisquick and yellow cake maybe be "cheater" methods, but cheating can be tasty!

Saturday was such a good day!  Steve-O had to work early, so I slept in.  My brother woke me up with a phone call and I headed over.  We did the usual playing of some pool, listening to some music.  The three of us (us plus Daddy) were bored, so we decided to see what was playing at the dollar theater.  Daddy treated us to Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash movie.  I loved it.  Like my brother, I'd probably want to marry June Carter, too.  My dad thought it was a good movie but not quite worth the hype it got.  After the movie, we went to the base so Daddy could cash a check.  We drove all around eastern Dayton for almost an hour looking for an Outback Steakhouse that apparently no longer exists.  We tried another steakhouse, but even at 7:30 on a Saturday night (which is strangely late for my family), there was an hour and a half wait.  We settled on Golden Corral, where my brother ate too much and my dad ate only meats and veggies.  He's taking his diet changes seriously, and I'm so proud of him.  After stuffing ourselves, we went back to the 'rents' house and watched Crash, which I liked.  My brother had recommended it.  The saddest part that turned out to be not-so-sad made me cry anyway.

Most of Sunday my love and I slept.  Together.  We hadn't had the same day off together since about New Year's.  I sleep so much better when he's there.

Today, I guess, is what all of this was leading up to.  I finished sending out invitations for a big annual dinner we're having.  This is, of course, my first year doing it, and it's going smoothly so far.  The afternoon job was better.  I finally got access to the website, and boy, is it a breeze!  The boss gave me a list of changes he wanted right before I left on Friday, and today I played with FrontPage, which is hella-easy.  There were some things, however, where I had to go in and change the code by hand.  None of it was terribly complicated.  I've never worked with tables, however, so I felt accomplished when I made them look how I wanted them, too.  I created links, pages, etc.  I even fixed a couple of typos that the old editor, the "pro," had missed.  With ten minutes to spare, I blew the smoke off my fingers and told my boss he should come make sure things were to his liking and give me more assignments.  Cha-ching!

It's late now, and I hope to do exciting things tomorrow.  I do need to quickly find a previous meeting's agenda and whip up a menu for a couple of dates I neglected for my morning boss.  Then I hope the afternoon boss has come up with some new challenges.  TextTwist and Alchemy are okay.  Blogging is better, but some of you have trackers, and I don't want to appear too pathetic   And there are only so many nine-screen e-mails I can write.  My friends are patient, but they're only human.

Love to you all.  Happy V-Day!  V is for Victory.  And Vaginas!

P.S. - Kaylee did not make a mess on or with my pillow.  She somehow hasn't made a mess at all, aside from throwing kitty litter.  She just likes to sleep on my head

Cheaters never get the right cake texture--as I told my Aunt, you HAVE to begin with spun butter--and that ain't NEVER coming out of a box!
    I love cashing checks.
Coding is a sweet pleasure. I miss being able to do it, and settle for writing documents at work.
It's been months since I've got emails from you. Expect one of mine.
V is for a lot of things. I'm sure I'm not the only guy that stumbles over that word--Va-gi-na.

lol - some friends of mine are going to a poetry slam this friday night -- it's called the Vagina slam.... I don't think I can go to an event called a vagina slam lol.  Too much for me... but it's good for a laugh at least.

Tofu is great! You should really buy a block of it, just to play with. If you eat it plain, you'll see why something can go with broccoli and with chocolate. It has virtually no flavour, well just a tad of bean flavour, but it really soaks up everything around it. So, you can fry it up with broccoli and flavour it with soy sauce, or you can mash it into chocolate, and it'll taste like chocolate. I love it for that. My favourite tofu recipe, smash it into a mush, and mix it in with your ricotta (or just substitute it), season with spices, and make it into lasagna! It's great for people who swear up and down that they despise tofu, because they'll never know it's there. But you still get the great protein and calcium benefits!! I don't cook with it much, though. We usually buy it and don't use it...so that's no good. But you should try it now and then. My favourite tofu is when I get it at a Chinese or Thai restaurant. They usually deep fry it lightly, then mix it in with the veggies and such....YUM.

I'm glad that he was very receptive to your needs, that's so great! Hopefully you can find a little more peace, and as he spends a little less time away from the game, perhaps he'll grow apart from it. That is essentially what worked for us. We got too busy, and when we had time, it wasn't enough time to DO anything, so we just gave up. Good luck!

Oh yes, and Firefly is the greatest! I'm so very very sad that it's over, but I now own the whole season, and the movie...so at least I have that much!

I'm glad you had such a good weekend. Boy, I miss Golden Corral....sigh. And Waffle House, but I guess you don't have that where you are.....blah. There is just some southern cooking that you can't quit missing, even when you're a pretty adventurous vegetarian that never liked southern cooking...haha.

It's cool that you're learning more framing and tables. I used to write webpages by hand, all html code that I created, back in the day. It's pretty complex when you start, but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad. I've never used a program to create them, but I'm sure that makes it even easier. I'm glad you're getting more adventurous stuff to do!

I think we might need to make ANOTHER tofu pie this weekend! It was divine. Sometimes it comes out too hard if you put too much chocolate in it, but this one was perfect! Also, not that you need to know this, but kitties don't mess on their periods. It comes out with their bm... and goes straight to the litter box. It is one of the nicer things about kitties. That and they are soft!
