What a beautiful night! It's the first night of summer. I guess now would be the Firefly Hour, but I drove home in the pre-sunset minutes with the windows down and the classic rock blaring-subdued. There's a long and winding road between my parents' part of town and my neighborhood. The boulevard is beautifully paved, has only a few stop lights that are usually in my favor, and is flanked on both sides with trees and grassland. It was so easy to speed through it tonight, drinking in the proud light as it slowly, luxuriously, fell over the horizon.

I know the feeling.
I also like the one where I see the Chicago skyline up ahead, the Alternative Rock station is blaring, the sunroof is open, and I have a full can of Monster! ;-D
I've always liked how you descriptively and poetically share things like this. Alas, my "first night of Summer" was spent at an Airborne Express main sort hub. Glad yours was better than mine. :)
Sounds like a lovely evening . . . I remember northern summers. Light and hot and, yet, never crushing or oppressive like our southern ones.
RYC: I don't care much for Bill O'Reilly. He utilizes his libertarianism as a mask for his ego.
There is a tremendous gulf of difference between the actions of the leader of a nation and the Commander-in-Chief of a nation's military and the actions of selfish antagonists and a lower-level elected representative.
One is ultimately responsible for the decision to go to war. The other is simply responsible for his response to that decision. It is the difference between causality and response, between father and son, between the Godhead and Creation.
An irresponsible or selfish response toward decisions of leadership breed division and death. Responsible assent (or even responsible DISsent) breed unity and ultimately victory.
Your point is acknowledged; one is free to disagree. That is the nature of Free Will and of Christ's sacrifice - freedom. The existence of this freedom, we are taught, does not eliminate the consequences of using it improperly.
What's Bella Notte mean, anyway?
Lady and the Tramp is my dad's favorite Disney movie...
Aren't summer nights made for driving and blaring classic rock? (Or Johnny Cash--that's my summer music du jour.)
it's like i had a motorcycle and some "substance" working in me, riding in the night on a road such as that..blissfully buzzin...
A beautiful night indeed... another one in a beautiful life...
Thank you for your comments...they mean alot...
