    The List*

(*This list allows for too many video games and not enough books.  For shame!)

If you were on a space mission during which you would be alone for years on end on your way to another planet, what choices would you make to bring in the following categories:

    5 Books

    The Bible
    the Harry Potter Series

an anthology of work by C.S. Lewis
    Norton's Anthology of Modernist Poetry
    Tao Te Ching
%runners up include The Once and Future King, a Hemingway anthology, and an E.B. White anthology

    5 Movies

    The Godfather series
Robin Hood (the Disney animated version)
    The Big Lebowski
    Fiddler on the Roof
    The Sound of Music

    5 TV Series Anthologies

Star Trek:  The Next Generation (no doubt!)
Jeopardy! (how many years has it been on?  I'll be set!)
The O.C. (only three seasons, but I'm not a TV gal)
    House
    Northern Exposure

5 Music Artists’ full collection (because they're all pretty damn extensive)

    The Beatles
    Mozart
    Jethro Tull
    John Coltrane
    Bob Dylan

1 Game system (PS2, Xbox, PC – for gaming only, etc.)

    PC, of course

    5 Video or PC games
    Spades (the card game)
    Sheepshead (the card game)
Spider Solitaire, Solitaire, Freecell (stupid Windows)
World of Warcraft (with ten years, I might as well give it a try, eh?)
one of those silly Civilaztion games or something

My son is great at "Civilization". I think he owns three of them.

    Jethro Tull?!!? Jethro TULL?!!??

Oh, well. It's your decade; guess you can spend it listening to mediocre floutist rock if you want. :o)

RYC: Got it. My bad. Regardless, I'm sorry you had to endure the experience.

    Dear Internet Islander,

You are receiving this "form comment" because I just sent one to all the non participating members of the Internet Island, and even though it was a form letter and I wasn't reading or commenting, it still was a process, and took some time. Since you are one of the "participating Islanders" I thought I'd similarly send you and the other participants a note of thanks, because you have consistently, or not quite so consistenly,  participate in the topic posts, and usually go around and visit the other participants. Hopefully the 50 or 60 people I just left comments for will either leave the blogring or start participating. The "Please Read This" portion on my last topic post was designed with the idea that I was going to send everyone in the group a Xanga version of a group email. I didn't figure I'd send you regular readers one but then I figured, this is a way to thank you all at once because you are the guys and gals who are helping keep the group active, and are usually among the 20 responses we get a week. I hope to see this number rise considerably. I know there's no reason why it can't with the amount of Islanders I see on the blogring lists.

    Thanks again, fellow Internet Islander,

Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

I like the music choices, and some of the books!

If you're alone, and without a connection to earth, wouldn't Sheepshead get boring?
Oh, and those are book *sets*, just to be picky. How many books is the bible? More than 50?

You've got good taste, like I always say.

    Fun List~~

I would take the Tao Te Ching also~~and add Gibran~~and some Rossetti and Yeats, but would take a full collection of the Moody Blues, Loreena McKennitt and Saint Seans for the music~~perhaps some Bing and some Dean Martin too~

And Northern Exposure~yes, indeed, indeed~!! I love the first seasons of the old Rosanne series, so I'd take some of those~~and of course, The Nanny, as I love Fran Drescher and her Betty Boop style in that series~~oh, and Betty Boop cartoons and George and Gracie Allen as well!!!!!!!!!!

But I should rather stay on Earth, when all is said and done. So many things yet to be discovered~~~

    Many Blessings~

RYC: LOL~Yes, with the release of Seventh Sojourn~it was the definate beginning of the Fall from Grace for the unique ensemble. I ought to have prefaced the collection with this disclaimer! I bought the first album in 1967 on 33 and a third rpm and it was a factory defect!!! The first side was on the wrong speed and sounded like the chipmunks! It was so funny, I kept it and bought a replacement. I still have it! That was in the days albums were a little less than $3.00~nearly two week's allowence!! LOL!
