This is one of those "tagging" exercises.  I wasn't actually tagged, but I thought it was a fun one, so I stole it.  If you're interested or need some blog-fodder, have at it!

    1. Post a picture that is worth a 1000 words.

    basil

    2. Write a limerick about a Xangan you admire. Include reasons why you admire the Xangan in the limerick.

There once was a Xangan named Prudence
to whom I thought I might be a nuisance.
    Engaging and kind,
    she jump-started my mind,
    and together we practice impudence.

    3. Do you have a secret blog and if so why? If not, why not?

I do.  I've posted perhaps four entries in the last year, mostly angsty things in dark purples.  They are tongue lacerations and woe-is-I's.  Oh, and one poem about menstruation.  Yeah, nobody here needs to see that.

    4. Write out three wishes for other people and say why you wish those things.

I wish my sister cwould enjoy school and finish her degree with relative ease.  Mostly because I liked school and it will be good for her... and it will make my dad happy and feel less guilty.

I wish Sue the greatest health and happiness and prosperity.  She is kind and deserving and extremely talented and inspiring with her work.  Mandalas rule!

I wish Ryan would make it big, because he's a rock star

    5. If you had to make something with a grapefruit and two rubber bands what would it be?

I don't know, but I'm sure it would be inappropriate and testicular in nature.

    6. Did you ever practice french kissing, and if so, on what, or how?

No... unless biting my first boyfriend's tongue when he snuck it in there unannounced and uninvited counts.

    7. What is the most disgusting thing you've ever eaten?

testicles (no, it's not a theme!)  They were spongey... and I was in Spain with my grandmother, dammit!

    8. What is the most feminine (if you are a man) or masculine (if you are a woman) thing about you?

    I'm part-Italian, so I grow hair where I don't want to.

    9. If you have pets, what are their names, and what inspired you to name them that?

Right now we have Kaylee, the softest kitten in the world.  We named her Kaylee after an adorable character in Fox's short-lived but wonderful space-western TV show, "Firefly."  Kaylee is the ship's mechanic.  She's adorable and flighty and horny and likes shiny things.  Our own cat embodies all of these qualities as well.

    10. Write a three line story about a time you were caught doing something wrong.

*Any story I can think of at the moment would be incriminating.  And probably involve my mother.  My mother reads this blog.*

    11. Using roughly 50 words, say nothing.

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
    To see a marching band.
He said, "Son when you grow up,
would you be the savior of the broken,
    the beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them,
your demons, and all the non-believers,
the plans that they have made?"
"Because one day I'll leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
    To join The Black Parade."

    12. Tell us about the worst job you've ever had.

I traveled from desk to desk, task to task, and sometimes had to call ancient and irritated patients to reschedule their important appointments because their doctors had to play golf.  This job was the hardest - it made me cry and dream about it at night, I had a few nasty coworkers, and I had to catch my boss when she collapsed from stress one night while we were working late.  It was also the most rewarding, because I revamped their filing system, and I made connections with the patients.  And my boss loved me.  I made a difference.  I'm lucky - none of my jobs have truly sucked, even the food ones.

    13. Create a new breed of human. What does it look like? What does it do? How does it procreate?

It looks like us and sounds like us.  Its early childhood memories last a little bit longer, making it more likely to enjoy learning and exercising and playing.  It somehow recognizes other human beings as its brothers and sisters and mysteriously keeps everyone's best interests somewhere in their minds.

    14. What do you think is the biggest threat to humanity right now?

    ignorance and intolerance

    15. Tell us about what your dream job would be.

I want to write and edit others' writing.  I want to be well compensated and to travel.  I want to help others realize their greatest passions.

    16. Who is the last person you wanted to kiss?

    my husband

    17. How do you eat an oreo?

the way I eat most things that are sugary goodness - very slowly (and very often)

    18. What would you say is your defining characteristic?

I should let the jury decide, as Boo did.  If I have to take a stab at it, though, I'd say that I am really connected to people.

    19. What is your cause?

respecting others and fostering respect between people

    20. Link one site that you have found that is useful or that makes you laugh.

Once in a while, use it instead of your regular search engine.
