My brother got a Xanga! and writes eloquently about his greatest love, music. Was he not the cutest toddler ever?
I just painted my toenails! Yes, that's a huge deal for me. No, you don't get pictures.
My first "Writing Non-fiction" class began tonight. The first third of this class involves us collecting examples of seven different genres and analyzing them. This will be what he calls our "rhetoric" - basically our textbook. I'll take care of Wednesday's genres on my own. But I'm gonna let you in on Monday's assignment. I need three or four good published examples of the following genres. They can be from your local newspaper, magazines, reputable websites, whatever. And Mama - could you save the Times for me?

- interviews
- profiles (informative piece on a person)
- feature piece (informative piece on anything but a person)
For next Wednesday, you might keep your eye out for
- travel essays
- opinion pieces/personal essays (broad category, I know)
Participate only if you're into this sort of thing. I look forward to uncovering some fun stuff. And maybe learning to write like they do. And publishing on my own. Thank ye

Dear Emily,
Some gals have little flowers and miniature Matisse paintings on their toenails. (I'm exaggerating, but you know what I mean)
Sounds like a journalism class. Great about your brother. "Blog in the family!" I've met a few Xangans where everyone in the family blogs.
RYC: I wasn't deliberately cadging cadence from Pink Floyd songs for my poem. It's all original.
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool
Grrrr on students that refuse to take constructive criticism (which is certainly not illegal!).
Yay for bro having a xanga. *goes to harass him*
@aliashope -
I talked to Boss a few minutes ago, and we are not conceding any points to him. Booya! On a sad note, though, my comp theory prof is leaving us@BoureeMusique -
That's crazy that your professor is leaving so suddenly... Like the class was going to start (was it the research one) and now you need to change? How sad.
I hope you have gathered what was needed for this original class .
Les ongles peints des orteils ne sont pas passés inaperçus , Emily !!!

In friendship
