We dance around the Truth of God
But rarely touch the Fire;
As though in ignorance lies our bliss,
We dare not venture higher.
Our shallow hearts content to know
What other folks have told us
Of what to think and how to grow -
We let those people mold us.
And when a brave one ventures out
To say the king's denuded
With one accord the Just Ones shout,
That silly one's deluded!
But all the while God looks on
With smiling satisfaction
Knowing that when "faith" is gone
There's room for interaction.
His truth will not be bound by books
Or what mere words will tell
We must believe or risk proud looks
That sentence us to hell.

Wow!!...I hesitate to specify any particular part I like best (as I usually do)...this is really rich. HOWEVER...
"But all the while God looks onWith smiling satisfactionKnowing that when "faith" is goneThere's room for interaction." .
..this I LOVE.

Hmmm...just noticed, per your comment, that I used the word "perform" to refer to fulfillment of purpose...perhaps a little editing in order. I agree wholeheartedly that at the core, we are designed to worship and adore God; it's a big reason that I especially enjoy worship music..I participate. By the way, I finally made it to "the Barn" prayer center yesterday, and spent some time in silence at the "feet of Jesus"...it was really, really good...I needed that so much.
