Another castle that piqued my interest; Alnwick castle, in Northumberland. Cool, huh? (the castles I'll be sharing will mostly, if not all, be in Ireland)
Looks like another great place to have a terrific Halloween get-together and share our tales. There's an ivory tower for everyone! Or a basement for those whose tastes so warrant. Maybe there are even hidden staircases leading to secret rooms. (I often have dreams of secret staircases and hidden rooms - but none that register as nightmares)
Imagine............... and share your imaginings.
Pumpkin pie And candle light Things that go Bump in the night
Golden sun
and Northern wind
Leaves that fall
In the autumn blend.
No imaginings, but I do share your fascination with castles. One of these days my wife and are going to take a castle tour in Ireland. (she's been there several times but I have not) If I were well funded I'd love to renovate and live in an old castle. I don't know what the fascination is, but there definitely is one.
leaves are falling
all to the ground
can't help seeing
when you walk around
Cool castle. I think its the explorer in me, I would just like to roam one for a day or so. Maybe not spend the night.......
Tim
Pumpkin pie And candle light Things that go Bump in the night
Noises that are Out of sight Seem to cause Extreme fright
Driud tales and dragon scales Eye of newt and toad A couldron pot of cider hot Ancient lores unfold
I like this castle on this page.
Ah, "philospher" seems to pretentious to me. I like to keep a bit of humility (and originality) by considering myself a "vomitter of pretty words."
Pumpkin pie is tastey. Candle light is not tastey; it does, however, light up the dark. Things that go bump in the night are scary!
PROSE! Ooooh! I USED PROSE! What now zaboomafoo!? WHAT NOW!!

THIS IS ME RESPONDING TO SOMEONE SAYING BAD THINGS ABOUT THE ARTICLE I POSTED. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK?
[i think the person who wrote this article has never seen this verse: "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." ~ 1 John 2:15-17]
I think you have to consider what John means by the world in the first part of the scipture here when he says "Do not love the world or anything in the world". This means worldly things or things that serve the world. It doesn't mean that we are not to love the beautiful creations of the Lord. Afterall, "Joh 3:16 God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life." - God's Word translation. God loved the world THIS way. Meaning not the "ways of the world" cares about the world, but his ways in caring about the world. This piece of scripture from 1 John is true, of course, and I do follow this. I am not loving the worlds ways by listening to music. I am loving the worlds ways if I allow myself to be twisted by the ideas portrayed in the music. (The most common ideas of the world that pop out of "secular" things are the ideas that money is something to be loved, lustly love is something to be desired, places of power are things to be attainted, and fame is something of importance. These things are also advertized in movies, television, and internet. Not at this site. I do not follow these ways or ideas advertized by the things of the world.) If I am truly following the Lord I wouldn't be interested in certain music in the first place. This is up to the individual to decide what they should and shouldn't be interested in as Christians. I don't think Eminem would be good for me to listen to. It might actually not effect others. Its something dangerous for me. Its like some people can sit and have a few beers, but a recovering alcoholic cannot. But I don't see anything wrong with me listening to the band named H.I.M. or even if I want to watch South Park. Any Christian can't judge me for it either. (Matt 7) If you claim you don't listen to secular music, then why would you do anything at all. Movies, television, radio, and just plain walking out of your house to go to work; you experience things around you that do not glorify God. You choose to function like a normal human being that leaves the house, goes to work, and is surrounded by the things of this world that do not glorify God. Should a true Christian be locking him/herself up in a box with a Bible and prayer cards? Would that be truly following Christ? I don't think so. This is not what God desires for us. We should not follow the ways of the world but we are in the world just as Jesus was. Jesus went out to meet the sinners in their own world and on their own level. Think about it. Jesus was completely sinless, but surrounded himself with sinners and he still followed the ways of the Lord God and the Heavenly Father. Could you imagine if Jesus would have said he wouldn't come live as a human and save us from our sins through his sacrifice because the secular spirit of the world would have hindered him to the ways of the world? Jesus was bold and knew he was founded in the Lord God and would not be affected by Satans temptations of the world. He recognized the beauty in us, even though we were sinners! Get it! I can listen to music that would be considered "secular" and still seek the Lord. Music is a blessing. A person that was born with a love and appreciation of all music or music in general would be wrong for exploring the dark territories where music can take us? (Speaking about the notes only, not lyrics.....but even so.....a person that was born ((or blessed, I should say)) with a love, appreciation, or talent for poetry is restricted to only happy poems about gardens, birds chirping and loving God? No. Life is sometimes dark with heavy emotion. Music and the arts are expressions of that human emotion.
Hey!!! I LOVE my Irish heritage....I almost got lost in the Irish Culture and Customs site you linked to...and I'm at work ("Just walk away, Jim" I need to keep repeating to myself.) found this on the poetry link in the same site; though you might like it...
I see His Blood Upon the Rose by Joseph Mary Plunkett
I see his blood upon the rose And in the stars the glory of his eyes, His body gleams amid eternal snows, His tears fall from the skies.
I see his face in every flower; The thunder and the singing of the birds Are but his voice—and carven by his power Rocks are his written words.
All pathways by his feet are worn, His strong heart stirs the ever-beating sea, His crown of thorns is twined with every thorn, His cross is every tree.
thanks...I was having a little trouble kick-starting; kind of an "oatmeal-brain" morning.
blessings...Jim
