  • Todays castle comes from Castles of Galway @ http://homepage.eircom.net/~qvc/index.html

Methinks this one was built by me own ancestors. The motto of our coat of arms is: God is a strong tower to me.

You should make it a one week promotion where you ask if you should reveal it.  Then you can say ok I am going to reveal it.  They you wait and say I will reveal it if you want to be added to my protected.  Then you get everyone to plead to be added.  Then you finally reveal it.

No don't do that.  It would be shameless.

I like this castle, too.  But I likewise am wondering...why all the mystery about your own identity?  Or are you protecting someone else's identity like I have felt inclined to do for varieties of reasons?  Would you feel somehow too vulnerable if you were to display your photo here?

Ahhh. The mysterious woman, gliding along in the fog like a disembodied spirit, blending in with the cool morning mist. Silken tresses damp with dew wafting in the gentle breeze. Alone along the shore she walks, wrapped in a blanket of silence - her only companions the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks, the lonely echo of seagulls overhead. Who is this mysterious woman with the faraway look in eyes of gray that betray a softness like the breath of dawn but not the steel beneath them?

Dia Duit! ( which is, " God to you")  My lineage on my Irish side is through the Boles and Mahanna/Mahenna families. I have found Boles(es) in County Cork, as well as others, but haven't made the direct connection yet. The Mahannas are a very old Irish family, I've read; one of the first to settle there from Scotland (which apalled my grandmother). The name was originally either MacHenna or McKenna. I'm still working on the direct cities/counties of origin. It's fun, though, and I love the legend, lore, spirit and mystique of the old sod....Found a little Irish tune which will be familiar. ( I'm enjoying this "tour" of the Irish castles....thanks)

Go mbeannai dia duit ( may God bless you) .....Jim

Badfinger was around during the 1970's. Gibbins died in his sleep, so he died peacefully; unlike two of their bandmates who committed suicide. A tragic band.

That was absolutely beautiful. This could be the start of a wonderful story; a ghost story perhaps. Alone she walks the shores wrapped in the morning mist. Is she real, or is she a lost spirit? Trapped betwist the here and the Heavens, delusionally determined to wander the shoreline forever awaiting her long lost love.

Tis rather square, but I'd like to go see it sometime...

On second thought, no, let's not go there. Tis a silly place. Thank you for the ever-kind comment.

See what happens when one posts, bleary-eyed, in the dim pre-dawn of 3a.m.? I completely missed the hauntingly beautiful passage above, and agree with Nicodemus42...it's wonderful!
