  • The corruption in the government "of the people" is easily accomplished when the people, as individuals, have been corrupted. A government of greed, pride, selfishness, lust for gain, lust for power, is a result of those things in the hearts of its individuals. People choose leaders who justify these things in their own hearts for them. Having itching ears, they seek the teachers and leaders who will make it sound just.

As it has been in the churches of America for many  years now, so it is in government. Victorious dominionism is preached from the pulpits until the people are lulled into believing it is actually the will of God.

    It is not.
God desires mercy, justice, compassion, caring for the poor - not killing them in order to advance personal agendas, personal kingdoms.

We do not need more laws to focus on personal behavior. We need to examine our own hearts, and look at how corruption around us satisfies our own lusts, justifies the corruption in our hearts.

RYC:  I've got a cliff's notes version of yesterday's article, and you'll see what I mean by MIRACLE..  also, yes, it may be necessary for a couple to separate, and may need a divorce for reasons of civil law (property division)--but, absent anullment by the Church, it remains a marriage.

You hit the reasons and motivations dead square on the head. Check out the book I mentioned. What an eye-opener - though you pretty much figured out the "scheme of things".

Ah, another who sees the problem with the world.  Now all we have to do, is do something about it.

Preach it! (but keep your voice down around Pat Robertson. We don't want to end up on his list of executions...)

The above is the reason I do not ascribe to a particular political party: it is the people in the system and the country who are bereft of adequate moral compass. I see a government of power hungry people, hand in hand with rich special interest lobbies, and when I mention this to others get a general response of agreement..but do people really care? If highly visible "representatives" of the people are visibly corrupt, people "represented " by them feel comfort in their similar moral bankruptcy.

The problem of mankind's "heart of darkness" infects every system of government. The problem is solved when the hearts of individuals change. Jesus disappointed many who expected a political king...instead, He taught that the primary commandment is to love God, and the next in importance, the fulfillment of which springs from adherence to the first; love others.

Yes indeed. We have gone from "Love God and love your neighbor" to "bind your neighbor in a morass of legislated morality." What we did to the African slave and the Native-American we now do to each other in the name of God almighty.

    Jesus wept.

Well, the world needs Jesus.  I do, we all do.  And sinful hearts are everywhere from China to Russia and even in BoraBora.  I think God is still using America for good in this world, but I do think our days are numbered.  On a different note, that is too bad about the strawberries:(  But, that could be worse, like say, chocolate.  That would be baaaad.  And I don't figure you are allergic to cats either.  So, that's 2 good things.

Personally, I'd appreciate if he'd keep his nose out of politics.

    Great words!

I think the best way to begin changing the world is if we change our hearts.
