  • It's so much easier to find God...

When we come to the end of self.....

And sometimes the only prayer left to pray....

    Is a sigh.......

EDIT: as often as I've seen that profile pic, I never noticed the pup in the pic.

God was always easy to find at the beach. That was where infinity began.

I think my "self" is sort of like the energizer bunny - it just keeps on going and going. It's funny, I find myself sighing at both the beauty of this life and the pain of this life. I guess like you said, that's sometimes the best prayer.

Some of my deepest prayers have been sighs, Karen.

Beautiful ocean shot, by the way. Oh, I tripped and dropped my camera ... helplessly watched as it bounced across the sidewalk. For a moment i thought I had a good excuse to really upgrade, but it still works (minus a shutter button)...I feel a little anxious waiting for it to get back from the repair shop.

    blessings...Jim

RYC: The term avatar is somewhat an old school term, and at the same time it's a term that's coming of age in other computer/internet circles. But it has a ton of other bizarre meanings so I understand the confusion.

It's often used in forums, it's often used in im chats like yahoo, to mean the graphic you choose to represent yourself. For instance, when I send this to you, my avatar is going to be a cartoon drawing of myself. Xanga would call it a profile pic.

I believe the term came into being when early on in the internet community, pictures were hard to display. No one had sites, no one had any convenient place to store them. Today everyone seems to have a couple, maybe "flickr" maybe "xanga" maybe a "mac" account, you get the idea.

Along came someone/company/website (I could be wrong on major details my memory gets fuzzy sometimes), which gave away a small bit of storage on the web. Just enough for a small graphical representation of yourself. I believe you could store one. And it was called an avatar. But then in forums, chats, or the like, you could write out the code which would display your graphic and so people could associate an image with a person. It was and is really cool. For instance, I really like the default profile pic you have right now on xanga. I think it's cool.
