I went up to Kirtland, Oh this morning to run in Autumn leaves 5 miler. I have not run in 2 weeks. I been resting my knee and IT band. This was a first for me with this course was cross country. THey advertise the course has running on "pavement, wooded trail, open pastures, gravel roads, and even through a horse barn on Lake Farmpark." Well they had all that it was very hilly. It was either uphill, downhill or on a side of hill most of race. Starting out I had no illusion of PRing, I hadnt planned to push it anyways, just thought it be fun race. Plus long sleeve tshirt.
When I left house I thought for sure I was going to get wet. It rained on way up, and was cloudy most of morning. But about 15 minutes before race the clouds cleared some and sun came out. Suddenly it was perfect to race. Actually warm especially for November at 60. After the race it stormed hard for a bit so we really lucked out on timing, if you dont want to get wet. Of course the ground, fields were still wet. Not to mention how slippery wet leaves are.
I started off what I thought was slow. I found I wasnt has good shape after 2 weeks off. Guess I should of done more of something. I quickly found out the times you run on the roads mean nothing off road. I ran slowest pace in long time for the race. I even walked a little, this was one of toughest courses I have done. And first one with horse manure on it.
Actually a good race overall, Hope to do it again hopefully in better shape. My time was 51:22, which im actually ok with all things considered.

It doesn't matter how tough it was, it's great that you completed it.  I'm glad the sun came out a little.  Makes for a nicer day.  Sounds like a very pretty/scenic route. :)
