In the providence of God, our family will not be eating antelope meat this coming year. We hunted all day Saturday, and only saw about ¼ the number of pronghorn which we had seen in previous years in the same hunting location.
My sister and I spotted some pronghorn bedded on a hillside over a half a mile away. We headed toward them keeping below some rolling hills to hide us. The critical point happened when we were about 100-150 yards away. We were mere yards from the crest of the last hill between us and them. We were seconds from each sending a bullet to its destination. They were still bedded and unsuspecting until…
…a Ford pickup rolled over the top of the hill the pronghorn were bedded on. End of hunting those antelope. The band of pronghorn was instantly standing up and running to the east. Despite our disappointment at the interruption, they were a beautiful sight to behold. They look like flowing water when they run.
As a bit of trivia, they can run up to 60 mph, which makes them the fastest animal in North America. In case you are wondering, you don’t shoot them when they are running. According to my rough calculations, you would have to shoot 15-20 feet in front of them.

The Missouri...just remember you Missourians, that it all starts in MT.
