| | You Only See What I Want You to See... So, after much discussion with the therapist, he has already told me I was the most mentally and physically prepared person he has seen from a robbery. Since I knew it was coming, and I told everyone it was going to happen, I was completely ready for it. He was also kinda shocked as to my openness and skills at verbalizing my feelings and thoughts... this guy still has no idea what he’s in for.
I see him again this Saturday afternoon.
So, if I have to open up to this guy, why not just throw some random shit around here. I got this idea from Orange_Slippers, and found it really interesting. So here goes...
25 Random Things About Me... 1) I’ve never gone more than one day without living with a cat since I was two. First I had Tiger, then Whiskey, George and now Bubba and Koko. I fear I may end up becoming the lonely cat guy who lives down the street that all the children are afraid of.
2) Three groups that have become a guilty pleasure for me include Bon Jovi, Uncle Kracker and The Dixie Chicks. Although my three favorites are Aerosmith, Frank Sinatra and The Headstones. Quite the strange mix of all six.
3) I hate doing laundry and will leave it until the last piece of clothing is dirty before I do it. I will even go out and buy pairs of boxers and socks to delay it for a few more days.
4) I drink milk directly from the bag because I hate glasses with rings of old milk in the bottom of them.
5) People who use finger quotes when they talk risk death and dismemberment around me. If you can’t emphasize your own stories through your speech, then you need help. Finger quotes just make you look like a moron in my eyes and I will club you in the head.
6) I performed in both Grease and Bye Bye Birdie in high school. I was Mr. MacAfee in Birdie and had three solos on stage. I only sung two. The third was only a solo for the first thirty seconds and I learned that part, then lip-synced the rest while the rest of the cast sang.
7) I can’t go a week without buying a new book or movie. It’s an addiction. I have over 300 DVDs and at least the same amount of books. It would probably take me at least a year or two to keep up with the books I haven’t read yet.
8) When I was first dating Natalie, my ex, we had tickets to a Love Inc. concert at a bar in downtown Sudbury. The night of the concert I didn’t feel like going and wanted to spend time with just her so I pretended to feel sick so we could just stay in. Sorry...
9) Three movies I cannot live without are The Princess Bride, The Family Man and The Goonies, but my favorites are Goodfellas, The Seven Samurai, Almost Famous and Cool Hand Luke.
10) I love long showers and hate it when I ‘m late to go somewhere. Quick showers are a waste of my time. I need at least ten to fifteen minutes in the shower. I love the seclusion and the time to think.
11) I have broken almost every bone in my body at one point or another. I also fell through a greenhouse when I was 14, slicing both legs enough to have over 50 stitches on the outside and about 30 on the muscles to hold them together. I got really good at using a wheelchair when I was in the hospital.
12) I will eat anything licorice, especially Licorice Allsorts and Sambucca shots. The smell of licorice makes me hungry, but its the smell of vanilla that is a complete turn on!!!
13) I lost my virginity ten years ago this past weekend to my high school sweetheart when I was 19. She is still one of my best friends.
14) My mortal enemy’s name is Bubbles. He tried to ruin my life, but it didn’t work out like he planned. I still hate him more than anything...
15) Even though my job in life is to completely piss her off, I think my best friends wife is amazing and I want to find someone who is a lot like her... but not her because she pisses me off as well.
16) I do not watch sports at all, but am completely addicted to professional wrestling. I own over 200 wrestling figures, 150+ DVDs and tapes, plus many pieces of memorabilia including mine and my father’s tickets to Wrestlemania 3 in 1987. I blame him for all this...
17) I worked at a theatre for over 7 years and made sure to not miss a single movie that came out in that time. My first movies I ushered were Batman, Uncle Buck and Parenthood. the night I quit (different theatre) they were playing Jumanji and From Dusk Till Dawn. When I quit I walked out with about 30 movie posters under my arm.
18) I can’t stand the feeling of a handful of pennies or raw chicken, which is weird because I always make chicken dishes and Bubba and I play a game where he chases pennies all the time.
19) I have a fear of puppets, ventriloquist dummies and clowns. There is an old show on TV all the time The Thunderbirds or Fireball XL5 which gives me nightmares.
20) Every time I see a shooting star, the first star of the night or when I find an eyelash, I make a wish. I have done this since I was little. I made two wishes today already... one was for chocolate cake.
21) I sill have my two favorite stuffed animals from when I was a baby. Todd is a big blue bear and Lamby is a lamb... obviously. I gave Lamby to Cheri when she went away to school, but got him back when I lived with her my first year. I didn’t really want him back, but I was mad at her at the time.
22) I used to be able to run over 10 km a day in high school. I am back up to about 6-7 after over 12 years. My goal is to be able to run 15 km a day... but not have to prove it all the time to people.
23) If I could go back in time and talk to myself about career choices I would tell myself to either go into teaching or culinary school. I love to teach English and I would love to be able to cook like a master chef and go on Iron Chef.
24) I listen to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Armstrong when I am writing and no one else.
25) I want to have kids, but have always wanted to adopt children as well. I want a full house when I am older and I want to be able to sit back at Christmastime and watch them all open their presents while I drink hot chocolate and hold my wife’s hand.
So... there you have it.... 25 things most people don’t know about me. It’s weird how some of those things aren’t even things I think about on a regular basis. Gotta run though, time to go to the gym and run my little heart (and love handles) off.
