Work hard and it pays off.  I always do and usually I get to where I want.  I got this job through a friend, one class to get me in the door.  Hell, I got most jobs through people I knew, and got a lot of people I knew jobs as well.  If they didn't perform well, then I would look bad, so that's why I have always done my best.

I got my second class in January not through any connections, but proof that I could handle the classes.  I brought the class from being a low level class to scoring a 97% average on their big test.  That's not about connections or where the job came from, it's what you do.

My managers decided to give me two classes this summer because I worked for it.  My managers recommended me to other branches for kindergarten solely on the work I did with my other classes (grades one and five) and I went in, proved myself to the new branch and was given the third summer class.

Yesterday my kindergarten manager told me she recommended me to another branch for kindergarten starting in September when my summer contract ends.  I got up this morning feeling good about it since both branches I work at keep recommending me to others.  I relaxed, played some Scrabble online and was about to make breakfast when a call came in from another kindergarten branch asking me if I had signed yet with the Yong He branch yet.  I told them no and they asked me to come see them first as they had a position open and my afternoon manager had told them I would be good for it.

I signed the contract after only ten minutes of demonstration teaching.  They made sure to get me before I even met with the other branch.  I was glad since this one is only a ten minute walk from my afternoon school.  I can cut out over an hour of commute each day at this branch, relax, eat lunch and prep for my afternoon classes during my break.  So I'm officially a full time teacher for my company/school and it feels really good.

Maybe I'm tooting my own horn a little, but I came here with nothing and in less than a year I have got three classes, an early contract extension from my original school and a guaranteed job.  Yes, people helped me along the way with getting me the interview, letting me sit in on their classes (good and bad) and recommending me to others, but it's not like I sat back and expected it to come to me.  I wanted it, I worked for it and I got it.

That's the type of thing that makes you feel good...

I'm really glad that things are going so well for you in Taiwan, and that you seem to really enjoy it there (like I knew you would ;P)
