  • And she's back...

Wow...it has been a ridiculously long time since I've done anything on Xanga. So long in fact that I'm not sure if any of you even check my page anymore.

But, if any of you do still indeed read this, then kudos to you for sticking with me and this is for you....

Dave and I arrived in Fiji in the beginning of March and April 7 began the Bible Core Course. A three month Bible school that focuses on teaching the students the Inductive method, teaching them to learn and study the Bible for themselves. We are now heading into week 10 of the school and it's been an amazing journey.

We have 7 students from 3 nations - 5 Fijians, 1 Korean and 1 Indian. All of them with a heart for long term missions! One couple is wanting to do another school - the school of Islamic studies and then head to Egypt. One student just following this course is going to Lebanon. And one more has plans to do a leadership training school and then head back to his home in Calcutta, India to do church planting and children's ministry. It's so exciting to see this small little crew that will multiply and impact the nations.

We began the school with an overview of the Old Testament, followed by an overview of the New Testament. From there we spent 3 weeks teaching the Inductive method and going through the books of Philemon and Titus. The rest of the school has been studying a book a week. The students have been learning and growing and overall just loving the course. We get feedback all the time of how much this school has impacted them and changed them.

Dave and I personally have been doing well. We've had our frustrated moments, our tired moments and our "ready to go home" moments but we've truly seen the grace of God and have in really wonderful ways received his refreshment in our lives. Half way through the school was when I really hit my slump but now I feel like a runner in a race whose received his second wind. I feel revived and ready to finish this thing well. Only 4 more weeks before we head back to Honolulu.

Hope this was a sufficient update that someone out there enjoyed.
    ...more to come.
    -Erin
