| | March 8th, 12:00 am midnight the journey began. Seven men and women converged on a room in Bethel Church to pray. The prayer in this room will be ceaseless for at least 40 days around the clock. We came last night and annointed the room with oil and asked that God would meet His children there and that he would heal hearts, restore relationships, and send His spirit to guide our Church. It is already becoming much more than a place to pray...it's a place to encounter God.
The vision is that we would take the inward journey of spiritual formation and the outward journey of social transformation together.
The crazy thing is that I'm in charge of it. A few weeks ago, the youth leadership started to feel this compelling to pray and one of the guys on youth staff had read a book called, "Red Moon Rising," which is the story of a church that felt called to pray. They began the 24/7 prayer movement that is still going worldwide today. We adopted some of the ideas and began it exactly 40 days before Easter. Pastor Tyrone appointed me to lead it. I can honestly say that I feel more like a prayer wimp than a prayer warrior but I want to be better at prayer, so I took it on. For the last week we have been planning this thing...transforming a room that felt like a prison cell into a warm atmosphere that people can express themselves to God in whatever way they feel inspired. And this whole time God has grown my enthusiasm and vision for what He can do through us...even me.
I believe people are going to get addicted to the presence of God. I believe that people are going to experience the Spirit of God in new and fresh ways. Songs will be written. I believe that strongholds are going to be broken. I believe that prodigals are going to run home. Missionaries will be called. And we pray that it begins with us humbly seeking our God.
I know it seems strange but I thought I would share with you the current weather. It is pouring rain like I have never seen in Chehalis. I saw it rain in Florida once like this but never here. Last night, in the calm of the prayer room, I wrote in the prayer journal that I am ready for His torrent.
Holy Spirit rain down. |
