"O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O Lord, from childhood. Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you! My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long." -- Psalm 71:5-8 (NLT)

As I read this Bible passage today in my personal worship time, I was struck by how much it applied to me. God doesn't have any grandchildren. I was born into a godly home to missionary parents who taught my siblings and me the precious Word of God by mouth and by example. I wasn't instantly God's child, just because of my godly heritage. I had to realize for myself that I was a sinner in need of God's gift of salvation personally.

50 years ago sometime this year, I became God's child. In simple faith I accepted His provision for me, & realized that "God so loved Carolyn that He gave His only begotton Son, so that when Carolyn believed on Him, I was promised that I would not perish, but have everlasting life. (Jn. 3:16 personalized).

I was only four years old, but then, that is the beauty of the Gospel message. It is not hard to understand. It just requires that little amount of faith (like a mustard seed.... or like that of a little child).

And that faith isn't anything that I can gloat about, or take any prideful credit concerning, because it is God's gift to me. It is not of any good works that I might do, but it is because His Spirit is within me, that I have works wrought in me by the grace of God to His glory. (Eph. 2:8-10 ~ my paraphrase). He knows that without Him I can do nothing, and yet He continues to show His grace & mercy to me, daily. He forgives me when I blow it, & brings me along in His loving way.

My prayer is that my life will continue to count for Him more and more each day to His glory.  I want to praise Him for not only saving me, but for keeping me secure, and for being my personal Friend & Guide, & oh, so much more.

I hope that all who have read my simple testimony can say that you too are truly God's child, & that you have a personal relationship with Jesus day by day, moment by moment.  There was nothing very earth-shattering about my experience. I sat on our sofa with my mom, & asked her to help me as I wished to open my heart to Jesus. I didn't have any "gross sins" to confess, but I did realize that I was a sinner, nonetheless.

As I look back over the past 54 years, I am so grateful that I have had most of my life to lean on Him. And I pray that my next however many years that God gives to me, will be nearer and dearer yet, as I continually seek to love Jesus more and more, as evidenced by my entire being.

Both of my children accepted the Lord when they were very young... I waited till the 6th grade, I think because I was a "preachers kid" and thought I was already saved until someone showed me the verse in James that says even the Devil believes there is a God and trembles... I realized I needed to give my life to Him and not just acknowledge His existance.
    Good Post!
    Love, Bee

Wonderful testimony. When people get older, they tend to make God's simple message so complicated. It would be so great if people could accept him as children. Our kids were young, both 6 years old, when they accepted Him. I don't remember how old I was when I accepted, but it was long before I was baptized at age 10. I was afraid first of walking down the aisle where everybody would look at me, and secondly, I was afraid of water. I was probably around 8 when I finally accepted Him, but I always knew I would. I was raised in a Christian family, and it just never occurred to me that anybody wouldn't accept Jesus.

Oh, and.....I can't believe how much of Tristen I see in that picture of you!!

Beautiful! My girls were 4 when they accepted Christ, too.

Thanks for sharing your testimony! I certainly agree with your presentation of the gospel and I discovered something else on here..Lynell Smith.... my husband taught her in high school at Walnut Ridge Academy. Later we reconnected with her family who now live near Word of Life in New York where our daughter started college. We "house sat" for them so they could go visit Lynell in Brazil. That was in 2000 when we first returned from our first missionary assignment in England to  the USA.   Small world......

My testimony is similar to yours, except I was 3 years older. I had been at a Vacation Bible School where they gave an invitation. I was extremely bashful, so I didn't go forward, but after I got home, I knelt by my bed and prayed. God has been faithful. Some of my children were only 4 when they accepted Him.

Beautiful testimony. You grew up in the Lord. I was 10. I am thankful for parents who encouraged growth in the Lord.

The church in the photos is from the early Christian period. Christianity was brought here by the Romans early on. I will have to ask my husband the church history expert for the exact dates. We do not get much news of Lynell now but love her and her family.

When was I truly born again?  It was in the October, 1964. 2Cor:5:17 declares ~  "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."   My spiritual eyes were really opened. It was truly amazing--my first love. I am thankful that you were surrounded by Christian parents. When you accepted Jesus, their major heart cries were answered. I love that verse you have posted on top. When I first saw your picture, I said to myself, "My goodness, that looks like Tristen."  Love you ~Carolyn  PTLCJJACAGABAB!!!!!!

Love the sweet testimony.  From such a tender young age God has nurtured you, that is so wonderful.  I was a teen when I was saved...

    Hey!

WOw, I need to read that verse! Never was 'conscious' about reading that verse before!

Praise God for your parents who raise you in the Lord! I think that's a testimony of God working in a chRistian home!

And 4 years old...that's a young age to come to Christ!

I am always happy to hear a testimony like this, I think a life well lived In Christ, for most of a life is the best blessing. I did not come to Christ early on, in fact I am one who came much later in life - I sure wish I had come to Him earlier.I am just grateful that He kept pursuing me.
