I should be finishing my 5 page Government report, but I'm here watching the Mavs vs Kings game, while eating ice-cream. Oooh boy...
I also realize that I have to type up a 500-word english essay on advertisement. Wooo!
Yes, I'm also procrastinating by "amusing" others.
================UPDATE=========================
Yes, after many hours of fiddling my finger, cleaning my belly button lint, and watching the Rockets lose in OT to the Wizards, I've managed to not only finish my Government paper which happened to be 4 pages, meanwhile others were 1-2 LOL! I've also finished my English paper.
Since I was dead tired during the process of tpying, I decided to write more "naturally" during that time. That meant; more Xanga-like vocab and style of writing. So, here is the essay in ALL ITS ENTIRETY! and yes, I DO plan on handing it in tomorrow...who cares if its a College class? They'll love me even more. LOL Please take the time to read this, I think you'll find it most enjoyable. Here it goes: ----------------------------------------------------

Levi’s Blue’s or Blunder? (Lose-Lose Situation!)
The current line of Levi’s commercials is geared towards teens and young adults. There are many advertisements using sex appeal and young models to cash in on this sexual lifestyle we Americans face daily. There are also new slogans being utilized for the benefit of Levi’s brand to capture a new, younger audience. Such slogans include:
“It’s about time.” And “Make them your own.”
Levi’s is also using new tactics and change of faces to help increase sales. Levi’s recently employed Mr. Mrineaw (Ha-ha! At least his first names not “Dick”!); former president/CEO of PepsiCo, to improve relations between the apparel market and retail customers who often consider it arrogant. I personally feel Levi’s did the right moves, hiring Mr. Mrineaw. He’s brought great success to that company. Look at the company now, they have: Busty-Booby Britney, Whacko Jacko, Beyonce from Destiny’s Child, and Mike Myers! How can you go wrong with that?
What new things I learned from this article you ask? Some of the declining sales are due to tough competition. “FUBU is more popular with teen boys than Levi’s-it’s shocking!” I learned that companies such as Levi’s use strategies through a combination of global branding and product innovations. Super-low jeans, featuring single belly buttons, have been the most effective of ads. They say this tag line produced over the four years the company had an account.
Based on consumer preferences, buyers of their products have a great part in how a company advertises. For example, teens have declined their purchases of Levi’s jeans over the years. This in return, cause Levi’s to increase their sales towards teens. The company also plans to have three Super Bowl ads created. Later they will be displayed on their site to be voted by consumers.
If I were the CEO of the company, I would take that into consideration. I would employ advertisers from young companies to aid in my advertisement creations. Such would include: MTV, Coca-Cola, Nike, and the like. It won’t stop there either! I will also hire “Office Line Backer” Terry Tate. Not only will this “spice up” the office situation, it will keep our company productive for years to come. He’ll definitely play a major role in our creative process.
Part II
Levi’s and the foreign company Sony, both are very distinct. Sony is a world-leading developer, designer, manufacturer and seller of electronic equipment, instruments and devices for consumer and industrial markets. It also develops, produces, manufactures and markets home-use game consoles and software, and develops, produces, manufactures and distributes recorded music in all commercial formats and musical genres. It is also engaged in the development, production, manufacture, marketing, distribution and broadcasting of image-based software, including film, video and television, and in various financial service businesses, including insurance operations through a Japanese life insurance subsidiary and non-life insurance subsidiaries, banking operations through a Japanese Internet-based banking subsidiary and leasing and credit financing operations in Japan. Sony also has Internet-related businesses, an advertising agency business in Japan and location-based entertainment businesses in Japan and the United States. Meanwhile, there’s Levi’s who happens to be falling behind in sales due to their lackluster reach towards young teens and their desire for up to date fashion. Levi’s primarily sells jeans which is why their assets aren’t as large as Sony’s.
Sony produces some of the most innovative and witty commercials to date. Who’d of thought that an ALIEN could listen to music, and sell? I surely didn’t. Sony has a similar advertising plan of attack. Sony employs their ads to reach young teens with rich parents out in the Hampton’s, Long Island by way of trendy, mainstream Rock music, cartoons, and super-duper-hip new styles and fashions. And then, there’s the sex appeal that everyone yearns for.
