  • Some things you may not know about Carmen

    • @$%! I can curse and will given the proper inspiration.  And I will curse in English or Spanish, but I use English more. My German curse words have dried up given the fact that I have no one to "practice with."
    • Atrevete! I don't like reggaeton generally, but I will admit to not only liking, but playing any songs by Calle 13.  I like how they mix English and Spanish.
    • I like wine, especially with a thought provoking conversation.  Especially with E.
    • I watch those nature shows on PBS and talk to the screen, "What the fuck are you doing man?! The alligator is going to eat you!"
    • Now that I am able to, my mother and I watch General Hospital together and she and I have conversations on just how stupid some characters can be.
    • I think we have a little Dexter inside at times, but we keep him at bay.  We are, after all, faced with consequences.
    • I like to watch Korean novelas even though I don't have a clue of what they are saying.
    • I watch cooking shows and say to myself, "Yeah, if I had your fridge, your kitchen, and those freaking ingredients I cannot even pronounce sure I could cook that." Still, I like watching cooking shows.
    • Even though I pick on him for always turning on the news, when E is gone, I find myself tuning in for the latest news courtesy of CNN, etc.

Stop being so similar to me!!! Ahhh!!! Just kidding...to quote Nacho Libre

"all those things are my favorite things to do every day!"

ha ha. seriously though...for the most part we do a lot of the same things. I love korean soap operas.

  • seedsower

I have no tv but we use to watch All My Children and discuss the people of Pine Valley like we discuss the people on Xanga now !

  • VaultESL

I'm a total news junkie. Although I read more on the Net than watch CNN and so forth....

  • mawmspage

    We are very similar....

I've watched GH ever since Laura barely married Scotty and my beloved Richard SImmons had his jazzercise classes at Luke's Disco (but my mother doesn't watch it with me)...those Korean novelas are better than the Spanish novelas (lol!)...my new obession is reggaeton - Pitbull, I adore....multi-lingual cursing is the best...mix in some Italian and Japanese words and you have the whole United Nations!!

  • maebemaebenot

i can swear in multi languages. thats the best i do, only with swear words tho. and you know what, i feel that i too, only have inteligent conversations when i'm drinking wine/champagne. naturally i talk shit when im drinking beer!

  • VersaGratis

@maebemaebenot - Hahahaha. That's hilarious, but so true for a lot of people!

@Carmen - I never like Korean novelas But I LOVE the Spanish ones.

I don't like Reggaeton, period. But my mom loooooves Calle 13! :D And Dexter is a show I keep promising to watch on Showtime on Demand. I will soon!!!
I like watching the news, Noah doesn't. But when I'm not home, he'll watch it. A sign that we're dearly missed

ever watch a korean show called "MY GIRL?"

  • caminante@momaroo

Cooking shows, I love to hate them but I watch them anyways, that and HGTV house hunter shows.  re: German.  My husband downloaded Cars the movie for the boys and I am not sure but I think it may have German subtitles or some language really close to German.  I should send you a copy for you to review.  Scary thing is I actually understood or came close to remembering some of my college German.

  • ClockworkBunny

I've only heard one song by Calle 13, but it was good... I'm partial to Daddy Yankee, too. ^_^

@TheSecretLifeOfPandas - Sadly, no more time for Korean soap operas.  I usually browse channels and bam! I bump into one, hehehe.  I also watch the news in Korean and I like to see the different type of styles.  I find there are different styles of speaking to the audience as a newscaster, at least that's how I perceive it.  I've seen the BBC news, Deutsche Welle, Noticiero Univision, Noticiero Telemundo, ABC News, etc. Wow. I just divulged the fact that we watch a lot of news here, lol.

@seedsower - Soap Operas in English were a shocking thing for me. Soap Operas in Spanish end, at a certain point or have a sequel, but they do end.  When I heard General Hospital had been on for quite a while, I was speechless.

@VaultESL - Before the news agencies/networks got savvy about the Internet, back in the mid, late 1990s...one would be able to browse several newspapers without having to "sing up," "log in," and/or "join."  Now there are a bit more hurdles, but it is understandable.

@mawmspage - Pitbull? Hmmm, "friendly" name.   I haven't heard his songs, perhaps I should.  YouTube is just a click away, lol.

@maebemaebenot - Beer? I'm not used to drinking beer except when it's really, really hot. I'm more inclined toward rum and coke.  But yeah, I agree with you in regards to what you said about the beer. Wine is always a favorite although I never know the names so I'm not a connoisseur or anything.  I like semi sweet wines as of now.  That may change in the future.

@VersaGratis - Have you seen Corazon Salvaje? Highly recommend it.

@TrinaTequila - Isn't that the truth? One picks up the habits/customs of one's other half/better half.   E watches cartoons with me now when Saturday rolls around.  I watch a lot of newscasts.

@caminante@momaroo - Das ist richtig.  You took German in college as did I, but we were in different classes.  I stopped taking German when we had to dissect a poem in German. Gulp.

@fullmetalbunny - The one song I can play from Daddy Yankee over and over again is Rompe, especially the remix, which includes the collaboration from other rappers.

  • CarmenDeBizet

@mr_faust - I apologize Faust. I did not see your comment (there was no profile pic., how odd).  No, I have not seen that show you mentioned, but maybe I have...I have not learned the names of the shows in Korean.
