No more vacation. No more concert. It's officially back to normal life, which I guess is both a good and bad thing.

-I've been called a nerd by two of my teachers. Mr. Teixeira said I was pretty nerdy because I was the only one in my English class who knew the earth's geological structure and basic human evolution. The mantle is the next geological layer of Earth after the crust and that Homo Sapien means "wise man." - Homo Habilis was the one that used tools, and Homo Erectus was the first to stand up straight. (we were playing Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader during Senior Cut Day). Dr. Griffith called me a nerd because I referenced to cogeneration when Ryan sharpened his pencil with Mel's sharpener, although I should have said it was synergy or symbiosis, haha. Hooray for obscure references and selective memory of 6th grade education!

    - I was talking to some people about college, and how I got rejected from Berkeley but was okay with it because arch is a hard, hard program to get into anyways, and another person responded, "Well, I got into the arch program at Cal." Wow, thanks asshole. I mean, I guess .001% of me is still a smidge bitter, but honestly, how does that add to the conversation in any way? And I was talking to another person about where I got accepted, and she asked "So, what's at Cal Poly? 'Cause you're choosing a state school...over UCSD..." She didn't mean any harm by it, but I wish people would focus less on the reputations of schools, and stop assuming things about certain schools. Including myself - I sometimes have the inherent urge to defend myself and shout, "THIRD BEST ARCH SCHOOL IN THE NATION, HOLLAAAAA!" whenever I sense even a smidge of hesitance from someone about me going to Cal Poly instead of a more *~*prestigious*~* school.

-Admittedly, it felt nice when a buddy at dance said "ooh, you're going to a smarty school." when I told him about Cal Poly. And meeting future arch buddies on facebook is kind of exciting.

-I've had almost zero homework for the past few days. Mostly because I should be studying for my 5 AP tests *headdesk* It's the calm before the storm (set it off, and the sun burnt out tonight, reception less than warm....blah blah blah. I haven't listened to Fall Out Boy in such a long time)

High school seniors don't know basic human evolution?! (Okay, so I didn't know homo habilis is the one with the tools, but still...)
Yea you gotta know that the school name reputation thing is SO bad in Korea... If you graduate from the "SKY" schools --- Seoul, Korea, or Yonsei Universities --- you're automatically part of like this select group of "smart people".. if you get in anywhere else it's never quite the same... same with Ivy's! It's all about the name value.. although, admittedly, I wouldn't mind getting into a "prestigious" school because of the positive stereotypes that come with it.. and the high quality of students and professors they attract.

That's really kind of a crappy thing to say someone though. I got into that school, how come you're complaining that you didn't?? Hmm that would kinda piss me off.. lol. But what matters is that you're gonna do what you want and be great at it. =) Hope you have a great time at Cal Poly!

You ARE a smarty, Wendy!  It's really interesting reading about all your college acceptances and everything else going on.  You're making me so curious to know what it would have been like if I had applied to more than 2 schools, haha.  But seriously, it sounds like it's going to be so exciting for you.  Kinda makes me want to re-do my high-school/university transition year!
