i don't know how much any of u care about this..but i find my ethnic history quite interesting...so i found where my last name came from...
During the reign of Emperor Shun, Ji Lian, the son of Lu Zhong, a descendant of the Yellow Emperor (Huang Di) scored merits in harnessing floods. As a reward, Emperor Shun conferred on Ji Lian the state of Chanhu (in present-day region of Fenyang, Shaanxi province, China). It was the year 2220 BC. Emperor Shun renamed Chanhu 'State of Huang' and bestowed on Ji Lian the surname 'Huang'. Ji Lian became the Progenitor of the Huang Surname. The descendants of Huang Yun (Ji Lian) ruled the Huang State of Shaanxi until the early 'Spring and Autumn Period' (722 BCE~481BCE) when it was conquered by the State of Jin.
