Yes, my language setting is correct. Now leave me alone.
It seems that every time I get here it is to file a complaint. High on today's list is a woman who phoned back to see if I had called her. I think I had as I think I mis-dialed the Carmax service repair number. I was in the midst of apologizing when she hung up on me. Wow, there's one with issues. And then there was the reason for the Carmax call--the clutch finally gave out as my husband was heading to work. Luckily it was about a mile or so away so we were able to get back home on our own, but it was at four in the morning. I am now calling around to see about repairs. Really, 192,000 miles for an original clutch isn't bad. Now I have to fend off COD from thinking we have to buy a new car.
But if all goes well, it will be under a grand and done before the end of the day. I am sitting here in my track pants, hugging a box of kleenex for the cold that he gave me, and waiting for the tow truck. I probably should brush my teeth as well. Tomorrow is my first day at the writing group. That will probably be an entry of its own. I'm not going to work today so maybe I can get the maya research done (two books left!) and then get a fiction book to read. I'm in the mood for fiction again. Any suggestions? I need seminal work here. (And I need a graduate student who knows the meaning of the word, as I found that he didn't yesterday.)
Update: the car repair is the right drive axle, and the clutch is fine. Just needed a change in fluid. We also got the front suspension done as the struts were original also. In total, about $1300. But still, better than finding out on the Eisenhower at 9am. It should be done tomorrow. As for the rest of my day, not nearly as productive as I would have liked. The cold saps me like a tapeworm. I'm losing energy in a slow bleed and in such a way to render complicated thought impossible. It was a good day to get phone calls from friends. I'll be on day-by-day until I can kick it. And a bonus is that the car won't be done until at least 10, so I can sleep in.
