Reasons I like my boss:
- I can tell him things like "Our graduate student puts his foot in his mouth so hard that I truly expect for him to turn around and I will see a shoe coming out his backside."

We had someone like this working in our lab in the fall . . .
It's very nice to have a decent relationship with your boss. I've been in previous positions where this was not the case, and every day was misery . . .
Nary a one.
I had a boss who, when I said I wanted a day off, would respond with, "You can have EVERY day off."
It made me laugh out loud every time.
